bald bloke:
I’ve tried a couple cups without and didn’t enjoy one bit of it, the trouble it’s difficult to cut down as I have sweeteners at home and tea/coffee machines don’t give out half a spoonful so I really need to go the whole hog but am struggling.
Put one of these in your kit…
1 tablet = 1 spoon of sugar
Thank me later.
I’m trying to give up sweetners too and not everywhere has them so I’ll end up with a teaspoon of sugar instead so really need to give up both it’s hard work, had a coffee this morning without sugar from our machine which granted obviously ain’t the best but only got half way through it before binning it and getting the same with sugar so getting nowhere fast .
Gave up sugar about thirty years ago. We were staying at a holiday camp in wales and I could never find any sugar, by the time the week was up I found I didn’t miss it that much so I stopped using it, Which was strange as I used to eat by the spoonful before even used to have sugar butties.
Only drink it black as it comes (tea and coffee)
No sugar or sweeteners, just the pure stuff.
It takes a little but you wil get used to it and never look back.
Don’t eat anything sweet before you drink coffee or tea without sugar, that makes it twice as bad.
Try to avoid sugar anyway, your health will benefit.
I you have once the chance to load in British sugar, ask them how they make sugar so white, and ask if you can smell fresh sugar.
That will put you off forever.
I was dying from the moment I was born! There are strong cancer genes right through my maternal blood line and strong heart disease genes right through my paternal blood line, I know I’m going to get one or the other, not a case of if but when. I live a healthy lifestyle as much as I can and I take each day as it comes and enjoy it as much as I can.
I gave sugar up 40 years ago when I stayed with friends who never had sugar or milk in their house, soon got used to no sugar and haven’t had it in drinks since then but I drew the line at not having milk!
I gave up sugar in tea for lent for six weeks about 50 years ago when I was a fearful Catholic child and have never had tea with sugar since. I take coffee very strong, either black with no sugar or white with a spoon of brown sugar. I believe brown sugar to be less harmful than white and it doesn’t have the manufactured/refined over sweetness of white sugar. It more takes the edge off coffees bitterness whilst retaining its flavour.
bald bloke:
Well I’m 24 hrs into the new sugarless and sweetner free regime and not had a decent cup of tea yet but I’ll get there in the end hopefully.
I’ve gave up because im struggling with it but have cut down to half a sugar now and in time I’ll try again but the sweetners are in the bin .
I gave up sugar in tea years ago, although I do find a tea with 2 sugars is a treat if I’ve earn it.
Found the best brew is to use sterilised milk, put the teabag in first, leave to soak in the milk while the waters boiling then add water and stir to the right colour.
I know some prefer a teabaggin first but for me it’s milk then teabag then water.
Go cold turkey! And definitely no disgusting sweeteners! I gave up sugar in coffee (can’t stand tea so can’t help you there) around 10 years ago and yes for a about a month I struggled, but then the coffee began to taste like actual coffee and not sugar.
And the best thing is it tastes so much nicer with a biscuit. I remember the coffee tasting yuk with a biscuit because the sweetness of the biscuit overpowered the sweetness of the coffee.
Give yourself a month with no sugar, no sweetners and enjoy the coffee! (And biscuits! Haha)
A bit late here, but I gave up on taking Statins for my diabetes (doc knows) and stopped taking extra sugar at the same time. I go for blood tests after Christmas but I already feel better and have started losing weight. What I started this post for was to say that the only sweetener I’d take, if I did take any would be Stevia. It’s a natural plant that has none of the side effects of sugar, but it’s expensive weight for weight. One advantage is that you don’t need so much because it’s a lot sweeter than sugar.
I’m pre diabetic , been advised to cut out sugar as part of the prevention for it going any worse . My wife has never taken sugar so if i give it up , will it make me as miserable as her ?
