As an agency driver driving through the night (or in the day even), I sometimes feel like a little forty winks in the bunk. Some trucks are not really associated with particular drivers, they don’t contain any personal stuff, but others do. When I’m using a truck that obviously ‘belongs’ to someone I feel obliged to leave it as I found it and not mess it up, so my question is, is there a convention for which end to put your head when in the bunk (alone) - Steering wheel end or passenger end ? (Wife just read this and thinks that I’m sad, but I’ll post it anyway)
I suppose that there may also be safety implications.

Sorry but I’m confused … easily done I know
Assuming that you take your boots off or put something on the bunk to stop it getting dirty what difference does it make to the regular driver which way you lie, sorry but I don’t get it

Not everyone takes does take their boots off - I don’t if its dirty and I only want 15 minutes. I suppose I am also concerned with which is the best end for my head !
Sleeping in a shared truck is disgusting and should never ever, ever, happan. (unless the truck has been fully and professional cleaned-out and valeted before being handed over to the next user).

Now that is discusting, wearing you boots in bed, thats how bunks get filthy in the first place

I was going to put that! It’ll be dirty because the last driver couldn’t be bothered to take his boots off. Don’t bother getting on the bunk for 15 minutes then.
Oh and pop your sleepy head at the end that doesn’t have mud and grease on it.

The thought of double-manning makes me sick.
Meanwhile back in the real world …
I double man and thank god I don’t do it with someone who is not obsessed with cleanliness ! Ok he where’s the same socks all week and smells like a haggis but we get the job done .

do you think that your hotel room on holiday is treated like this?
a quick sweep, mop and fresh sheets/ pillow cases is all that is done usually.
So if double manning and you use your own clean duvet/ sleeping bag whats the difference?
If you are stuck with cabbing with an animal…tell him!
Never double manned in respect of nights out etc, but had some good trips with a co-driver, which included getting head down for a few hours.

Can you not see that’s the reason bunks get so filthy, one driver decides it doesn’t matter about his dirty boots because he’s only stopping for 15 minutes, the next driver decides that it doesn’t matter about his boots because the bunk is already dirty, the next driver decides that because the bunk is dirty it doesn’t matter about his dirty boots or his greasy hi-vis, and so the story continues until the first driver has that vehicle again and complains about the state of the cab
If you don’t want to take your boots off carry a piece of polythene or something to cover the bunk whilst you’re on it

The reason why it’s like a dog kennel is because of attitudes exactly like what you have, unbelievable!!
