If you check the route and read the road signs there fine.

Totally agree. Maybe you can join me as I take back my 48 inch tv, computer, washing machine, car, microwave etc. you can’t uninvent the wheel.

A sat nav in the wrong hands is a disaster waiting to happen, but then again so is a machine gun.

I have a new large scale road atlas every 2 years a bridge heights atlas and a small selection of County A to Zs. With these I can get to the nearest Town, but what I don’t know is the last 4 or five miles. If I’m lost I’ll stop near a filling station and ask or look for a postman. I can never remember what other drivers tell me four hours before I need it.

Depends on whether it is multi drop for a pallet delivery company or more general haulage type work. If I’ve got a local A to Z I’ll look it up, which is normally the case if it’s a fairly local multidrop. If it’s a farm pick up or an RDC etc, I’ll ask for a print out of the location from the nearest town. There are some that refuse to do this point blank, which I really can’t understand. It’s their diesel I shall be wasting, it’s their load that’ll be late and it’s going to be one of their deliveries that comes back again if undelivered.

One thing I always do if the address is incorrect, is to write in enormous letters over the delivery notes: “INCORRECT ADDRESS” before I hand over them over for POD signature. It probably makes no difference whatsoever, but just maybe the next poor so and so might get something of use to him.

pick the A-Zs that i need and use them. if they dont have the street i want i will google it on my phone. if that fails i will google the company and phone them for directions

Unfortunately, so are mobile phones whilst you’re on the road.

Interestingly enough, some depots like Snodland don’t let you turn up to work with either a satnav OR a mobile phone!
Why would one need one when they’ve supplied a map with every run both zoomed in and out, coupled with no run being more than 2.5hours each way?

When I’m driving up the M1 through the roadworks, I’m always being passed by big name trucks diddling around on their Iphones whilst they are actually overtaking me. I actually made a point of glacing over once, and the driver in question must have thought I was VOSA, and whipped the mobile away out of view!

The disturbing thing was, he was not only a full timer, but looked older than me, thus suggesting this isn’t a “whippernappers” thing… :open_mouth:
