This problem is still happening with the new model’s.
I’ve got a 14 plate fh that locked me out yesterday.
Luckily I was only 20 miles from the yard. So they got a spare key to me.
Still not fun being locked out for nearly an hour.

ive found that taking the key out of the ignition and putting it in your pocket when you get out of the truck, normally stops you from getting locked out. also stops people from driving your motor away
A brick would work a treat and do the job in about 2 seconds. Might be a bit draughty on the way home though…

Please! Can you not apply any sense to this topic.
I am enjoying the stories.
Thank you.

it also stops you from unloading the vehicle if you have a PTO driven from the gearbox
This has happened to two of our drivers and on the last occasion, the Volvo fitter broke in through the sunroof, causing damage which it took us ages to get put right.
What’s the best way to get into a FH12? Can you short a wire behind the front grille, like you can with Scania?

What■■? Where the hell were you in my hour of need Harry? Thanks for nothing mate!
Sorry Maoster! On the 4 series, if you lift the grille, look at the wiring loom where it runs down the nearside quarter panel, stick a pin in the all white wire and then earth it, this will open the central locking. I’m sure it must be possible on a Volvo.

My old boss use to hide a spare key under the front grill (well hidden) so if you got lock out no probs just pop the grill .This was on a scania 113 so before you say you can only undo the grill from the inside of the cab you could on a 113
Happened to me in the middle of nowhere, got out for a wee and it locked me out. Was just in my shirt and it was freezing and considered smashing a window. Walked to a farmhouse to ask to use the phone which was about half a mile away and when she let me in, I didnt know the number, so walked back to get it off the trailer!! remembered the sunroof was open, so borrowed a clothes prop and climbed up onto the roof and unlocked the door that way. Volvo said to pull the top of the door and use some welding wire, like I had all that with me and something to stand on to reach 10 ft up!! Now have a spare key hidden on the truck for emergency use.
did,nt some small person on here lock himself out of an fh and forced the side locker open then popped the bunk up and crawled in
seriously i would,nt go telling all on trucknet how to get into a truck. otherwise all axors will dissapear over night never to bee seen again

Didn’t think the bunk lifted in an FH
Had it happen to me in an old badly maintained XF, engine still running, mine and their phones still inside middle of nowhere. Luckily my window was down a little, so about three quarters and hour later I managed to get back in after a hell of a struggle.

Thank you kindly Harry. I shall cut and paste that for future reference when and if I do it again.
Unless of course I’ve left the lap top inside the truck!
Harry have sent you a pm on how to do it, as i did not wan,t to put it on here as it is so easy to do. It has happened to me 3 times with my 57 plate;
The first time was in Caen and rainin lke hell, and no phone or numbers only the wifes in my head, she was not impressed with the 3am call to ring the boss to call volvo out, then twice in the underpants needing a leak luckily by now i had a hidden key
Volvo did a modification to the wireing which cured the problem done under warenty and it has not happened since then.

didnt think anyone would want to steal an axor.
You turned up at a farmhouse in your SHIRT
and you didnt get both barrels of a 12 bore in your arse
she must have fancied you
My old truck had a nasty habit of locking me out, I always carry a spare key in my pocket anyway, but when I sold it after four years and I was clearing it out before it went, I found a spare key the previous owner had zip tied in a secret place for such eventualities, it was a pattern key and would only unlock the doors as there was no internal chip to disable the immobiliser.

the people that have drove em would steal em, then never to be seen again
I’ve had it happen twice, both on a 4 series Scania, one was just after the fitter from Keltruck had left after replacing an alternator bracket it took him 2hrs to get back & open the doors, he did that with the wiring behind the corner panel, luckily I was at a delivery, out of the way in the yard so the alternator could be fixed for the umpteenth time, I just waited in the gatehouse & smoked all the guards ■■■■
The second time was almost a total disaster, I was tipping a load of BSE infected bone meal inside a shed, the procedure was to back right into the back of the shed, tip it up a lttle bit, then move forward a bit to get out from underneath a supporting beam & then shoot it up in the air, I flicked the PTO in & jumped out, made sure everything was ok & started raising the body, I shut the door to keep the smelly dust out of my cab & the doors locked I had less than 30secs to get back in before the body went up too far & tore a hole in the roof at the very least, no way would I have been able to do that so I jumped up & tried to pull the hydraulic hose off the ram, it wouldn’t budge so grabbed the piece of scaffold tube that we used to get the twistlocks on the back door opened & hit the hose as hard as I could right at the coupling, it broke after about the sixth attempt & I then got drenched from head to toe in hydraulic oil
as the weight of the body forced the oil back through the now broken in two hose, the engine was still running the pump so it was pumping all the oil out of the tank too, what a mess, now I’ve got a lorry I can’t get in & a load I can’t get off, all stuck inside a shed full of powdered cow
i managed to get in the lorry via the sunroof & a pole with a hook cable tied on the end, but I still had the small problem of a busted hose & 200ltrs of hydraulic oil over me & the back of my cab rather than in the tank, I had to hang around a few hours waiting for another lorry to turn up & tip my load for me
Now I never ever get out of a vehicle without the keys in my hand
