I seem to remember a story, and a picture in the local paper. T’was in Bridlington and the driver had got out for a ■■■■, wearing nothing but flip flops, the door locked and he was still outside. The picture showed him covered with a police blanket while a mechanic got his truck open.

He didn’t get prosecuted though, it was minus 3’c and there was nothing to see :stuck_out_tongue:

had a driver next to me in an FH on portbury weighbridges have that happen, we tried my key (FM) & with a bit if wiggling it opened , as for me every time i get out i leave the window open a quater down , just in case the dog decides to stand on the lock lever :confused:

We’ve had a couple of driver’s locked out of our new FLs, the strange thing is we’ve never managed to get one to lock without using the key in the yard.

Harry have sent you a pm on how to do it, as i did not wan,t to put it on here as it is so easy to do. It has happened to me 3 times with my 57 plate;
The first time was in Caen and rainin lke hell, and no phone or numbers only the wifes in my head, she was not impressed with the 3am call to ring the boss to call volvo out, then twice in the underpants needing a leak :wink: luckily by now i had a hidden key :sunglasses:
Volvo did a modification to the wireing which cured the problem done under warenty and it has not happened since then. :sunglasses:

klunk, cany you pm me as well please mate, as i now drive a 55 plate FH. (i do try to take the keys out every time i get out, but sometimes forget)

The VN I had would do it for a pastime. I had to get a locksmith out once and he used a wedge in the top of the door and a fibreglass rod to press the lock button inside the cab. That was in a field about 30 miles north of Fort MacMurray and I was just lucky there was a site office a bit of a way away that let me use their phone. Had a spare key cut and hidden after that escapade…

Considering that the FH series has been in production for 15 years now, they shouldn’t still be doing this.

Me too, please! I’ve only had my 57 plate a few weeks and it’s done it several times already. So far it’s only locked the driver’s door so I’ve been able to get in hrough the other side, but Sod’s Law and all that… :open_mouth:

i did it in my old foden ,you used to have to lock the door from the outside when you went to kip,and if you forgot and got out for a wee it would swing shut and lock u out :open_mouth: i ended up breaking a window to get back in …but the thing that gets me is ,i was in toddington svcs and not one other driver asked what i was doing swinging a bit of pipe at my cab window :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
