Getting Beyond A [zb] Joke

Steady Slowfarts have been on telly?

Don’t take it the wrong way “Great93”, but could it be more to do with your approach (attitude) that’s putting them off? Don’t take it personal, I’m trying to help.

How you come across when introducing yourself to prospective employers is very important. Never show signs of desperation or use the word desperate in any part of your conversation.

Sentences \ words that employers like to hear are i.e. I’m Keen to learn, common sense, self-motivated, I’m flexible in my approach towards work, honesty.

What they don’t like is words \ sentences like: I’m Desperate for this job, I’d be the best you’ve ever had, I’d might negotiate weekend work. I lack experience.

How you use these words \ sentences are up to you to decide. NEVER say you have little or no experience in driving class 1 \ 2 .

It may not work with every employer but I’ve found in the introductions I’ve had recently - FLEXIBLE - KEEN and especially COMMON SENSE are words that have got me a phone call to attend an interview.

Passed my Class 1 after you mate, and got a job 2 weeks later doing 3 nights out. I’ve now moved on to a full week away and personally I don’t like it as I miss my kids, but an extra £100per day plus £25 for nights out helps. Although I don’t know how long I can carry on like this and I’m looking at the job as short term

Just remember - Be careful what you wish for! Good luck man

Great93, why do you want to work for Stobart’s that much?

Stobart’s were on the telly.

Monkey see, monkey do.

This is why

great93:
I only want to work for stobarts as I know loads of drivers in there and if I’m stuck they would really help me.

Would have to be on the same shift as them though & of course you wouldnt get this any where else :bulb:

I let a job slip as there was a confusion I wanted to work out of st Helen’s as its only 20/30 miles from liverpool where I live and all my family are here and my nan recently passed away, the depot the company wanted me in 4 on 4 off was over 80 miles away and it was general haulage, if it was tramping I wouldnt mind.

So would you not be away for 4 days then home for 4 days

There’s lots of work round Liverpool as someone stated I’m lucky to be by the m62 m6 etc but as I’m 19 insurance is my enemy.

I really don’t want to sound ungrateful as I have a full time Jon averaging 70 hours a week in the restaurant as a chef but I wouldn’t recommend anyone to do my job it’s horrible.

BTW have done your job for over 25 yr got out

Sorry to here bout your nan but when my son had his interview it was 2 day after my dad died he still moved from where all his family are for work

So your not convincing me

Ill try that company cheers,
I’ve said the right things I think, like I said its my age most companies insurance are high age band guess ill have to keep looking for the right place right time etc.

4 on 4 off for the first week then itd be a messy shift week for example mon, we’d, thurs, fri, Sunday anyway.

great93:
Yeah mate I’ve been short listed that’s all I’ve heard

i would think it`s only a matter of time before you get called up for interview and assessment
