Get used to the icy weather

The Omega Block over the Atlantic is on for a while yet & were going to become IRT’s. Some of the UK may not see the green grass for a few months.

I have heard it could be like this until after xmas.

Deep joy for the Kids & Shirkers but not a lot of use to us road hauliers :frowning:

Fly sheet

its starting to warm up after friday a little, according to bbc weather, so fear not, and its almost time to get the shorts out again :unamused: :unamused: oh hang on some clowns already have

What’s the road like to Robin Hoods Bay over Christmas?

At a guess WN I’d say it’s pretty much like the one to Runswick Bay further along the coast, really easy to get down…

… at about mach2 with only the sea to stop you.

Splash or maybe Crack. Ice Road Megane :stuck_out_tongue:

Excellent news, I would happily take 6 months of this.

Had a nice easy day today with so little traffic on the roads. Hatfield to Walsall to collect a loaded trailer then down to Channel to ship out. Signs on M25, which was so quiet it was like a Sunday morning, saying Cross Channel Traffic use M20 so I went down the A2/M2 and for the first time in a couple of years went for the ferry instead of the train. On the A2/M2 lane 1 was two strips of wet tarmac with a line of snow between them and a line of vehicles plodding along at 25 mph while lane 2 just had a covering of snow, with a couple of tyre tracks in it, so lane 2 most of the way for me. Nice to drive on and could pass everything easily. Down into Dover, straight to the P&O booth at 12:30 and was driving onto the ferry by 12:40.

So with no delays, light traffic, a ferry crossing and the kind of temperatures and weather I enjoy for a change it was a near perfect day. This is my second trip to Germany this week and the only delay I have encountered was about 75 minutes sitting with the engine off just before the toll booths for the Dartford Tunnel on my way back on Wednesday, managed to squeeze in a break, a nap and read some more of Paul Rowlands excellent book Not All Sunshine and Sand so it was time well spent.

I’m just up the coast from there, and here they are hailing a bus driver a hero for this…(even been on TV news and in local paper)

Which ironically happened after this…

They tend to look after all the big banks better than anywhere else!

All he did was cain it up a hill without slowing down though

he’s got the engine hanging over the arse end of the bus. He should get that bus up there no bother at all. Hero? pfffft

My thoughts exactly! Local rag is also out photoing people driving dangerously in the snow. Shame they have only shown pics of innocent drivers using the offside lane of a dc. Where do they get some of these journalists!!!

Wheel nut, keep the faith we went to Whitby just after Christmas last year when there was plenty of snow about and it was apiece of wee.Have one in the Bay Inn for me when you get there , Enjoy!

and i drove home in my t shirt

What sort of speed does it do? :grimacing:

I`ll get my jacket.

The sooner this snow (zb)s off the better, its no fun sitting at home not being able to do anything, let alone go out and earn a crust :frowning:

Yeh I agree he just got lucky, if there had been any cars on that hill and he had to stop it would be a different story

If you get stuck there it is good for winkles, you can pick your own there is also a good little pub right at the bottom of bank

Well did you notice all the beeping he was getting from the car drivers because he was cutting corners at quite a high speed (so it looked like)
Saying that my Iveco coach doesnt stand any chance of getting up a non snow/ice covered hill let alone an icy/snowy hill :open_mouth:

We had a few for you, The Bay Hotel, the Dolphin in Bay. Met up with a friend who is the boss of Harsh Tipping Gears in York. Then off to The Endeavour, Black Horse and Board inn in Whitby and even a posh nosh in Fylingthorpe.

Just had a steaming pair of Fortunes smoked kippers with a poached egg this morning, lovely :stuck_out_tongue:

can we have some more snow please!?

I took a week off and got my land rover sorted for its m.o.t. but by the time I’d got it through the mot, taxed and insured all the white stuff’s gone - what a waste! :frowning:
