Thanks, as for what to do with it, well, I’m not too sure  Not work, I do still have my ā€˜O’ licence but I packed in cos there was no profit in it & I doubt that’s changed too much since 2006, so prob a bit of the other two. A mate suggested ā€œit’ll look nice with a bit of blingā€!! I just walked away & left him, (lying there!! :smiling_imp: )

Everything is sorted now, so (weather permitting) I’m flying to Frankfurt Monday Jan 3rd, then train (via a change at Fulda) to Eichenzen to pick the beastie up. The 5 day reg will be sorted by 3pm and I’ll be on my way back via Venlo to Calais, if any of you guys see a ā€˜bobtail’ white ā€˜globy’ heading for Calais or from Dover towards Liverpool, giz a flash. (headlights only please :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: )

At this point I’d like to give a special thanks to Brit Pete, without his help I wouldn’t have been able to sort things, my German is none existant and he’s been my personal interpreter, thanks bud.

Ross.

Good man, dont ruin it with a load of after market crap!!!

Look forward to seeing some more pics of it. Hows the interior??

You haven’t booked the flight with Ryanair have you because their Frankfurt Airport is a long way from Frankfurt.

Looking forward to seeing more pics of that and glad to hear there will be no bling.

Like Dusseldorf is to Weeze. Frankfurt Hahn is 120 km from Frankfurt Am Main :open_mouth:

My mate found that out when he flew into Bordeaux to find himself an hour away from his hire car

No mate, I’ve heard the stories of Ryanair and their ā€˜city’ airports so I’ve booked with Lufthansa and, ā€œI’m not a bling kinda girlā€!! (even if I am a bloke) But it will almost certainly be getting a nice grey leather re-trim on the seats.

The interior isn’t too bad for a 16yr old truck, it’s hard to work out if it’s got a seat cover on the passenger side or it’s the wrong seat & the document case in the middle that usually has the passenger side window switch on it has been removed and a flat cover put over the fuse box. Other than that it isn’t too bad, and both the top & bottom bunk nets are still there, what do you think?

Five hours driving from Venlo to Oostende and six hors driving to Calais. If that’s how long it’s going to take him he must have bought a right bag of nails. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s old but (hopefully) not a ā€œbag of nailsā€!! It’s a 1994 F16 500 which shouldn’t slow up too much on the mountains between Venlo & Calais :smiling_imp:

Ross.

So would that be speed limiter exempt thenā– ā– ?

It looks great and to be honest,(rose tinted glasses on!!  ), I would much prefer to jump in your Volvo and drive it down to Greece etc anyday rather than ā€œpilotā€ an autoboxed, computer contolled modern day vehicle.

Im sure that today the new trucks have alot of advantages etc over the old ones (not having to dip your own oil level for example :unamused: :unamused:  ) but from what I gather they are just not the same when it comes to actually ā€œdrivingā€ them.

Look forward to seeing some more pics

I was a little bit slow I admit but with a speed
of between 30–60kmh ,yes it was bad, and we had
winter tyres,   normal time is 1hr,

Thanks again to all the contributers on this thread, flight booked; Tues 4th 0700 Manchester - Frankfurt (Lufthansa), taxi to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof then train via Fulda to Eichenzell, pick up the truck and head for Calais having sorted the ā€˜Maut’ at the dealers & ā€˜filled up’ at the first gas station.

That’s the plan?? (what could possibly go wrong   )

Ross.

PS, If your along the Calais. Brugge, Antwerp, Eindhoven, Venlo, Dortmund route early Wed morning, look out for a white F16 Globy heading towards you ā€˜bobtail’ cos it’ll prob be me. Giz a flash :sunglasses:
