Game over

I’ve finally had enough and have decided to hang up the keys. I’ve been wanting to do it for a while now, but have finally done it with a little bit of help.

It seems points don’t make prizes.

Hopefully going on the forks if I can get some funding

I can not blame you,the job is stuffed;
EE hauliers taking all our international work.
Congested roads.
Roads shut for hours after fatal Rtc’s.
General public that assume goods are transported by magic fairies.
Horendous driving by other Lgv drivers.
Your mental and physical health will improve now.

Don’t blame you, I’ve had enough of the ■■■■■■■ job now!

Good luck whatever.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do with your life.

All the best.

Good Luck x

Good luck - I agree with all, finishing soon myself and looking forward to taking a little job on a transit connect, no dcpc (yet) no tacho no bloody climbing to get to my seat - a list of many things come to mind. I’m sure you have done right.

No, that’s not so, I know plenty of people working with 9 points. Try smaller hauliers.

You forgot to mention the appalling way the industry treats its staff.

Ah well, all the best Semtex!

Not saying it will be the same for you, but i went on to driving vans for a bit… Still get tired but now have no limiter and no tacho and it was made quite clear when i’d be stopping…

I’d probly like driving a van around if it was similar money.

I’ve posted a topic about returning back to driving on the Old drivers forum
I’m going to be losing my job in March 2016 I know I’ve got just under 2 years to go
I’ve been in and around Road Transport all my life
For the past 12 years I’ve been a yard Shunter previous to that I was a tramper for over 20 years
Reading some of the comments on this forum it makes me wonder if I would be wise to return to lorry driving
I haven’t even done my DCPC yet
So Mr Semtex I think you’ve answered my question
Anybody need a middle aged apprentice plumber!!!
Ps all the best in your new career

Truck driving is a way of life and totally different to any other occupation and regardless of the points you will be back driving sooner than you think

few years down the line i can feel the itch again.

I love these threads… Very inspirational to us newbees :grimacing: aw well only another 40 odd years til I can hang up me keys. Although keys will probably be antiques by then :open_mouth:

agree with the climbing bit, thats all us hgv drivers ever seem to do, climb on the back to hitch up, climbing into the cab god knows how many times a day, most times up stairs to the toilet/office,climbing onto the back to unload, its neverending
