That’s correct DJW.

RoRo is short for Roll on Roll Off.

Also referred to as a hook loader because they have a hook which attaches to the bin and drags it up onto rollers and onto the back of the lorry. It can then be locked at the back and raised to tip the contents.

Hope this helps.

Sorry for the confusion.

I will post a full diary with pics at the weekend for those who are interested.

Off to the midlands with the Front End Loader today.

That’s the one with the forks that picks the bins up and throws them over the cab into the skip at the back. The rest of the operation works the same as a conventional dustcart.

I’ll soon be on the Artics

Congratulations mate  Any start is a good start and it’s experience in the bag  Good luck!

Cheers

Jonny :sunglasses:

Have had a long day out today again.

I get my first Artic run tomorrow ON MY OWN.

Yes that’s right. I did say that.

It’s a DAF XF 55 plate with an empty bulk tipper.

Swap trailers. Take the full trailer to tip at the scrap yard and back to base.

That will certainly be an experience.

Anxious but really looking forward to it.

Will take pics tomorrow.

Nice one mate, glad to hear it. Take it easy and it will all go swimmingly

Yep Worst Bus lived up to its name. It’s a shame because if it wasn’t for poor management it would be a good job.

But lorry driving is in my veins and I just couldn’t fight h urge. I used to daydream every time I passed one going the other way

The FEL is alright as it goes. Not had too many mishaps. Only had to climb in behind the plate the once to get the crap out that offloaded too early.

No idiots parking behind me. But plenty out on the road

I remember those thoughts! Lol seriously you will have shockingly bad days but you will also have awesome days. Returning back to the yard on your last shift sun shining good music no manager breathing down your neck and a nice pay packet waiting.

Those moments make it all worth while
