Fuel tanker strike. unite rep

just seen unites rep on gmtv… kate garroway chewed her up,
made the woman look kinda stupid,
why did unite not put a stronger person on there, to get across the real gripe…

at this rate, the tanker drivers are going to be the new miners…
and we know where they went…

and good luck from the rest of the industry,
who don’t would certainly be able to count on the support of the
‘elite’ prima-donna tanker brigade… lmao… i think not…

My heart thinks good on them, using their union to get what they want and not be suppressed by the employers like so many. Then my head says this is why we don’t have unions en mass anymore. Heard on the news the government will bring the army in to drive tankers. Have they got that many adr drivers? How ironic that one of the things they are striking about, allegedly, is safety, then the government may suspend the need for adr trained drivers :open_mouth:

The army lads are trained to drive fuel tankers to refuel military vehicles across countries where the natives lay roadside bombs and set up armed ambushes,I think they could well be qualified to deliver to Tesco supermarkets in suburban England

I know they do varied jobs for military purpose but is it under dispensation on mod business or are they qualified? And are all army drivers qualified, or like civy street, only a certain percentage. I know lots of military personnel are licence holders but do other jobs and haven’t driven a lorry since training. An aircraft refueller may be suitable to deliver to tesco, but what about a chef?

Not to mention where all training is ‘in house’ they can do it en mass if needed and have 1000’s done in one week no need for CPC either lol

It would probs be the RLC that take on the task if needed but you will have ADR qualified drivers in other regiments in the army

The tanker drivers in the forces are all in the logistics corp, they are trained far higher than any ADR driver, Chefs workin within the log corp will not be driving tank transporters or fuel tankers on a normal basis but they may hold the neccesary qualifications to do so just in case the fuel tanker driver gets his legs blown off by a roadside bomb. I trust em to deliver to asda

and your point is ?
Give that job to your average Hoyer/wincanton/turners tanker driver and the first thing he would do is defect the job as being too dangerous to attempt, cab too high, side light out, not trained, want me mummy, wheres my union rep

What a great idea to bring in the army to replace the workforce every time they refuse to do their job for the present rate it pays and want a rise.
It would only need 650 troops and the houses on Parliament could make common sense and financial sense, or wouldn’t it count for people who set their own wages…

The point was to demonstrate that army drivers make mistakes too.

650?!! 30 soldiers would be more than enough to do that shower’s work.

have to agree ,all mp,s are a waste of space, and when theyve got rid of these leeches the army can kick the other lazy bleeders out from the house of lords. :imp: :imp:

britain needs to reorganise the way things are done as obviously it isnt working now

Hiya tanker drivers may have done a boo boo on this one…the army wanted to get rid of a few hundred
soldiers this may work in the army’s favior, make the strike last as long as possible squeeze out the tanker
drives then employ the army full time… nice one for the army lads. well payed job aswell.

Not all, I’m in the RAF and we have Tanker drivers, the majority will be on 2MT (Mechanical Transport) who are the specialist drivers but all RAF camps have MT drivers and all will be ADR qualified. I’m on the mobile Radar and our MT section are Tanker Q’d along with a lot of the civvy SERCO boy’s.

12 years ago when we had a decent RAF before the cuts we had half our MT sections driving Tankers on the last strike.

Which part of Cloud Cuckoo Land do some of you lot live in?

For all this country’s faults, I’d far sooner have it run by a bunch of MP’s than a dozen generals.

For a start you wouldn’t be posting that kind of crap without fear of a knock on your door at midnight.

I think that’s what the government told the strikers, who’d survived the trenches of WW1,during the general strike of 1926. :imp: :unamused:
