Fuel protesters

we should not get involved with david handley at all, he has a totally different agenda than fuel prices, red derv costs so little in the first place!
trucks should have an essential user rebate and what the government loses in tax should be made up by taxing aviation fuel, as that is not taxed!!!

I like the way teflon tony blames opec for the price rises.

hello we are members of opec ever heard of the north sea oil rigs?

I also find that very strange as where I buy my fuel it went DOWN 1.9 cents between when I filled up on the 25th of May and when I tanked on the 2nd of June, they must get their fuel from somewhere different than here.

at current levels our fuel bill will go up 500 quid a month per truck = alot of brass at normal uk rates you basicly doing the job for nothing if you run at £1 a mile this the problem hauliers should put there rates up first this will make a bigger impact on the treasury than a protest as prices will rise as manufactures, supermarkets etc increase prices to maintain profits

What you all moaning about it for  . Can I refer you all to the “truckers strike” thread which went… far…? … no… it went absolutely nowhere and as predicted by Pat, died a death within two weeks. This thread will do exactly the same.

Blunt ? Maybe. True? Yes. :unamused:

Rob, the thing is, things aint quite hard enough on enough folk yet to do anything, so youre right, nothing big will happen. It is a scandalous price we pay in comparison with the rest of the world and thats the truth. But the bottom line is, we CAN still afford it, and another truth is that they’ll rob us blind every second they can get away with it.

Yeah but what’s the limit  . Some other guy commented that we’d be still moaning about it when it gets to £2/ltr and he’s right. After all, when I first started driving all of 10 years ago it was 50p/ltr then for unleaded.

I dont know Rob. Im sure I can remember petrol at 25p a gallon, so from that it seems the public at large can be fleeced ad infinitum mate!

Indeed, and not to mention the fact that why our juice is dearer than everyone else’s is down to TAX, levied on it by HM Gov, plain & simple!

 just a vicious circle but yes bang up the haulage rate see how it hits them they will try to find another way first but at the end of the day they need trucks to keep the country going

The only trouble is if you bang up the rate they will go where they can get the job done cheaper ie cowboys or johnny foreigner

£1 per mile :open_mouth:  :exclamation: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: . You’d struggle to get a taxi for that :astonished: :exclamation: . Makes you think :open_mouth: .

I’m on £1.04 p/m with 1500 miles guaranteed which is pretty much the standard in felixstowe on boxes

nsh, your search will be a long one!

being cowboys one would assume they are running on cherry (or oats/hay)

:astonished: true but they wont do it for long once the ministry start checking again there will be alot taken off the road then they have no choice but to use the other hauliers …?

Blunt ? Maybe. True? Yes.

no wonder the truckers strike thread got no where with bigots like you keep harping on.
it is idiots like your self that make me sick of listining to you this site is getting worse.
if drivers stuck together the job could possibly be a better job than it is.
if the admin do not like my comments they can take my details of this site because some of the people on here are a load of arse holes

I just reread this whole thread, and have to ask… what did Rob say that was bigotted? and when did he say it? I think you may have misunderstood something here… the last thing this forum needs is more people throwing insults when they don’t what they’re talking about.

People have strong views and opinions when It come to their work and Profession.
each of us are entitled to them.

Lets not get to carried away.

I completely agree… but throwing words like bigot, idiot, and arse hole at people for no good reason is just wrong. Where’d the civility go around here?

I agree 100% Kate!
