Fuel economy

Noremac:
With the price of fuel these days it constantly surprises me the way people accelerate up to traffic lights / junctions / roundabouts and have to brake well before they get there.

Today a Porsche comes flying past me in a 50mph limit, going probably 65-70mph, only to have to put the brakes on for the roundabout a quarter of a mile up the road.

I totally get driving at 75 - 80 mph on the motorway on a journey that is a non-trivial distance. No problem there, but on a quarter mile stretch, really?

I’ve always wanted a 911 Porsche for as long as I remember,.and I reckon if I could afford a decent one I too would drive it like a 2hat.
Then again I haven’t grown up yet.

I dont have any of those things. If I have my keyboard, piano,a Bible, netflix, glass of wine, good company, thats good enough for me.
Robroy.I’ll get you a porshe if I win the lotto, but dont hold your breathe,I only buy the occasional lucky dip!

There’s a difference between the deliberate choice of driving enthusiastically including a bit of acceleration and late braking v driving like an idiot.
It’s obvious that the car haters and global warming believers have imposed artificially low limits on the exits of many NSL road roundabouts for example to limit that type of fun.The NSL stretches of the A43 can still be great fun at 4am for example in that regard.

A Porsche isn’t out of reach if you shop around and know what to look out for…

He said 911, not Cayman.

Just buy a secondhand motorcycle, far cheaper, far faster and far more fun.

Believe it or not I drive a 996 and a 997 before I bought my cayman s-I preferred the mid engined layout of the cayman-it simply corners like it’s on rails.and saved me about ten grand over a 997,996 was about the same price.

Ever since we discovered oil and invented petrol and motor vehicles, etc,we set in motion the path of destruction of the whole world. We’ve becomed so addicted to the stuff, any mention of reducing our consumption is met with a barrage of opposition to the idea. Why dont we all agree that we are addicted to it.We are like a sinking ship, everyone on board, instead of fixing the problem, blames each other instead as the ship goes down.
The people of the 15th century never had to worry about the continuity of human civilisation, nor did the 16th century people ,but here we are staring down the barrel of annihilation, but we love our oil that much,we still have to keep burning it,even if it means the ultimate complete destruction of humanity.

Maybe the fear of catching dysentery, thypoid, dyptheria or smallpox kept them occupied?

You’ll be telling us to all get on our knees and pray next. :unamused:

Yep…and then they were looking forward to the 17th Century and The Great Plague.

Giving up oil before we have genuine alternatives will lead to the complete destruction of humanity a lot quicker than continuing to use it

All based on an utter complete bs theory that Earth supposedly has a CO2 problem.

As opposed to your addiction to a far more destructive nuke and biomass and solar panel fuelled energy policy at 30p+ per kWh for the privilege of turning the planet into an irradiated, treeless dust bowl.

What alternative is there other than the proposed nuclear, tree burning, solar panel covered utopia.
Then these zealots have the nerve to call it green.

Where are you going for your next sabbatical, Sploom?

You Sir are a salesman/advertisers/cult leaders ■■■■■■■■■. Is there anything you won’t swallow, believe and repeat ad nauseum?

I dont belong to a cult.Im only repeating what mainstream science is telling us.If we dont change our ways, there wont be any future for humanity

Just out of interest,.and without it getting back around to your favourite subject again… :unamused:
How come you are suddenlly on the side of science and backing up scientists opinions and theories …,.a guy who has recently had a 30 page tennis match with me trying to persuade me to believe in what is essentially fairies and ridiculous fantasy over proven science? :open_mouth:

The maoster,so you’re suggesting all this about global warming, ice caps melting,it’s all made up and only the gullable believe it…
