French Blockade

Only an opinion, I`ll take it that your one that will only moan, then claim to have been there on the front line when it all goes off, and we [the people] win ■■?

havent you been in the haulage game long enough to realise that NOTHING will “go off” :unamused:

moaning on here will acheive naff all.

look back on my posts from about 4/5 yrs ago…i was all for any kind of action against the govt treatment of haulage but realised long ago that the UK and ACTION just do not go together.

hence my reply pouring scorn on anyone who thinks otherwise…

The first political party to actually say that they would pull the UK out of the E.U. would enjoy a landslide election victory.

We have a chance to do something, BUT, are we going to join in ■■?

UKIP? They did really well didn’t they?!

The EEC.EU or Common Market has been in existence for 50 years although the UK didn’t join until 1973 after 10 years of begging to get in.

As an island what are we going to do? become an offshore bank for the EU? It just would not help anyone to leave the community, it just needs a strong Government who will stand up and be counted, not accept everything thrown at us. There is your answer, get rid of your own Government

Had no problem at all crossing this week.

Wednesday morning arrived at the tunnel, UK side at 07:00, drove straight to a booth and booked on,s topped to get the vignette then drove round for the train. Didn’t get pulled for the scanner and drove straight down onto the platform and directly onto the train. Within about 20 minutes of arriving at the terminal I was leaving on the train.

Today got to the tunnel about 11:30, 2 trucks in front of me at the booth to book on, queued for a couple of minutes at passport control and from there didn’t stop until I was on the train. I was 3rd truck on front rake and my longest delay of the two crossings was waiting for the numpty who was driving the second truck to get his arse back along the platform after he got on the wrong bus. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :imp:

Someone who cannot remember which door he got on a train worries me if he cannot remember that for 50 minutes. Im amazed the amount of drivers suffering from Alzheimers or ADHD

How do they remember where they are going?

Worries me too. On this occasion we did get out a different door to the one we got in, they had trouble getting it closed before we left and it wouldn’t open on arrival. However we were met by a bloke pointing to each bus and saying ‘front’, ‘back’ and as this driver’s truck was second on the front rake you could see it from were we were. Language wasn’t a barrier either as he was a Brit. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Havent been on “Le Shuttle” for about 3 years. Do the Spaniards still suffer triple blowouts driving on or off the train?
Are the meals still as delicious as they used to be  and how much do they cost nowadays ?

French ports blockade called off

5 hours 27 mins ago

Cross-Channel ferry services are resuming after French fishermen called off their blockade protest of the port of Calais.

The blockade, which has also involved the ports of Dunkirk and Boulogne, was lifted overnight but there had been fears it would be reimposed. But at around 7.30am UK time, P&O Ferries said the protest had ended.

A P&O vessel the Pride of Canterbury is due to make the crossing from Calais to Dover, with the Pride of Dover being the first to sail from Dover to Calais.

“We’re hoping to have a full service running on the Dover-Calais route as soon as possible,” a P&O Ferries spokeswoman said.

Thousands of Britons have endured cross-Channel travel chaos as French fishermen blocked the ports in protest at strict EU quotas set by the Common Fisheries Policy.

Kent Police had to launch Operation Stack to allow delayed vehicles to queue on the M20 motorway leading to Dover.

P&O Ferries said it has been looking into the possibility of seeking compensation from the French authorities.

Its called the ENGLISH CHANNEL & the french blockade it,nothing moves for days, nothing happens to them. What would happen if it was called the French Channel & the ENGLISH blockaded it.It would come up before the european courts & become a huge issue, with fines etc.I say find out who these fishermen are & take them to the european courts and fine them, freedom of movement, inprisonment,& to a certin degree kidnapping.

150% AGREE Talk a good talk but wont do nothing

One thing I will say is that the French have the guts to make a stance on something they believe and do something about it, us brits sit back and moan and moan and come onto websites and do more moaning but never anything physical about it…

Keep going France, make a stance and hopefully you will get what use want/desire… I mean its only little fishies use are wanting…

It’s called the "English Channel " here in England, It’s called " La Manche " by the French.

What  :open_mouth: You enjoy watching spoilt middle class hooligans cause mayhem and loads of damage, safe in the knowledge that Daddy will get them off any charges if caught ‘cause he’s a bleeding barrister? The same little [ :smiling_imp: ]’s who see no irony in going to Cloisters skiing in the winter, the Caymans’ in the summer, but still protest at Heathrow?

I think it’s nearer £9 now. Bloke sitting next to me yesterday morning had a English breakfast and that cost him £6, and he had to chisel the beans of the plate. He did his best but had to give up in the end as either the plate or cutlery were going to give long before the beans.

We should block the ports & go on strike.

Like the French do. OOPS

I did`nt say which side I was on, I quite liked the police brutality, showing the UPPER class ■■■■■ whats good for them :smiling_imp:

Im a bit confused when it comes to these type of demos, its a bit like fox hunting, I actually dislike BOTH sides

WHY the police don`t treat them like they do football fans, [like ■■■■], give them a good hiding, then go home :open_mouth:

I still think we are in for a summer of dis-content IMHO :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

There was also a slight hint of irony in my last answer
