What’s happening at the Chunnel?

I’ve just spoken to the tunnel folks on behalf of one of our members.
The lady I spoke to told me that they’re not taking anybody who doesn’t already have an account, or is not travelling under authority of somebody elses account.

The fact that our man has dangerous goods on board led to a first refusal, but let’s just say I’ve got it sorted now and he’s just phoned me to say he’s been called forward to get on the shuttle. RESULT!!

Info correct as at the time of this post.

Go for it Jon!!

We should stop all french reg entering or leaving as its their country men causing the blockade allowing british trucks entering and leaving the country till the blockade is lifted.or just block the ports full stop till the french pay up :imp: :imp: :imp:
Boycot anything French

I’m having rolls for dinner not French stick

I buggered orf at about 0930 this morning and went to pompey instead . Now waiting for 2300 tonight , very quiet here . And i must say the queue on the m20 didn’t look too bad so chunnel must be coping reasonably well .

According to the BBC news at 17:00, the problems are caused by French fishermen blockading Calais, Dunkerque and Boulogne. The report included the news that 400 trucks are delayed in the UK and that a French court has ordered the blockades to be lifted, otherwise the fishermen will face fines.

I guess the big question is whether the fishermen will now obey the court order…

French vow to increase blockade of ferry ports

THOUSANDS of cross-Channel British holidaymakers were stranded today as French fishermen continued a port blockade for a second day.

More were expected to be stranded in northern French ports as the fishermen vowed to cause “maximum disruption” in their protest over EU fishing quotas which they claim are sending them into bankruptcy. Their union leaders warned that the blockades could continue for weeks.

Long queues formed at the Eurotunnel terminal in Calais as holidaymakers had to abandon ferry trips. P&O Ferries said the fishermen had sealed it off at 6am.

A fleet of 110 trawlers, some flying Jolly Roger flags, is blocking the entrance to the ports of Boulogne, Calais and Dunkirk. Some trade unionists were threatening violence.

Fishermen also sealed off road entrances to the ports with barricades of burning tyres and piles of rubbish.

Ferry companies P&0 and SeaFrance, which sail between Dover and Calais, and LD Lines between Dover and Boulogne, all cancelled crossings yesterday and today.

P&O spokesman Chris Laming said: “This is costing hundreds of thousands of pounds and will move very quickly past the million mark.”

Many British travellers tried to take shuttle trains home, causing more delays at the Channel Tunnel terminal at Coquelles.

Calais port spokesman Gerrard Barron said: “The whole of Calais is blocked. Nothing is moving in or out, either on land or at sea.”

Marc Perrault, president of the Boulogne fishermen’s association, said: “This could go on for days, weeks, months – as long as it takes.”

How are the immigrants going to get over?

magners:
How are the immigrants going to get over?

they aint…for once LOL

I wonder how the coach holiday companies are coping. I know a company that travel to Spain on the Monday morning, arrive in Spain on the Tuesday. Head back to the UK Tuesday afternoon and arrive in Calais Wednesday morning. They do the same cycle Friday-Sunday. They do use the eurotunnel aswell as ferry crossings, but the eurotunnel seems to have huge queues as well?

bloody cheese eating surrender monkeys, seriously why does a big ferry have to be scared of small fishin bots just run them over

let P&O sail Dover --Zeebrugge
with the newer ships the journey
should be shorter than it used to be.
If the french fisherman belive that
they will win, I think not this time;

They did this a couple of years ago when the dockers at Calais went on strike. We were on a ferry that sat outside Calais for 7 hours and then got sent back to Dover. We parked up on the docks and were then put onto another ferry and went to Zeebrugge.

It would be a H+S issue from the UK side, the poor little fishing boats, and our BIG ships running over them :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

One thing I will say is that the French have the guts to make a stance on something they believe and do something about it, us brits sit back and moan and moan and come onto websites and do more moaning but never anything physical about it…

Keep going France, make a stance and hopefully you will get what use want/desire… I mean its only little fishies use are wanting…

I actually tend to agree, we have a chance here to join in, the country as a whole, are pretty fed up with GB and his thieving cronies, the cost of living is rising, the government denies it, the police now act on behalf of the government, NOT the law of the land.

The fuel companies are taking the ■■■■ big time, the goverment egg them on [more tax for GB].

At least the French do something, shame they were not as useful in the war though…

The first political party to actually say that they would pull the UK out of the E.U. would enjoy a landslide election victory.

We have a chance to do something, BUT, are we going to join in ■■?

Only an opinion, I`ll take it that your one that will only moan, then claim to have been there on the front line when it all goes off, and we [the people] win ■■?
