I did three days of CPC training within a week of getting my Class 1, I did my Mod 2 and Mod 4 about two weeks before and still learned stuff.
If you didn’t learn on your CPC training, you picked the wrong trainer.
Dont talk bull ■■■■…
I did not do the mod 2/4 as I passed before this ■■■■ came in…
By time I did my first CPC course I LEARNED NOTHING!!!
oh, and I have not had an accident in a lorry in my life! I dont understand how the DCPC can stop people like me causing accidents■■? Wind your neck in and crawl back into the hole you came from

I appologise I wasn’t as precise as I needed or intended to be.
The bloody idiot who says he has nothing left to learn is a fatal waiting to happen. You don’t know everything, and if you think you do, keep off the same roads as I’m on.

I did a course (Which most are on this very topic) Digital Tachograph & Drivers Hours Regs… I can put my hands up and say I DID NOT LEARN A SINGLE THING on this course, or indeed any DCPC course I have been on
Surely if you are learning from the DCPC then the DCPC was created for people like you, but for drivers that have been doing it for so long, you should know most if not all that is taught on such a basic course

As we both know, the DCPC is yet another industry creating piece of legislation. The very fact that we’ve all done perfectly fine without this nonsense since the birth of road transport speaks for itself. ■■■■ Turpin would be proud of the governments efforts here, yet even he didn’t sell back the loot to his victims in the same way the government / EU are selling us the right to work back, as before, with this most excellent piece of extortion.
Peter Smythe:
The general recognised LGV Assessor qualification is from RTITB. It is accepted as a watered down version of DSA LGV Instructor - though they are different skills.
Pete
Yes been through them both although a while ago.Got to say RTITB course was one of the best I have ever been on.
DSA, LGV a bit of a waste of time if you ask me.
And dont forget robinhood…once you have your dcpc card your much safer on the road…less likely to have an accident…and miracles happen dcpc = pro driver matey even though you have only just stopped ■■■■■■■ your pants and your mam wiping your arse, its like waving a magic wand… why are some op’s under the illusion that once they have sat this coarse…its improved there driving habits…bullcrap ! wake up get into the real world get some yrs under your belt then come back on here and profess.

You cannot beat experience however complacency can set in quite easily. Not all but some experienced drivers could do with a few hints on their driving.

It seems to me that there are two main schools of thought amongst drivers about the DCPC:
There are those of us who agree with training in principle but see the current set-up as a money making scam.
There are those who don’t agree with any kind of training and see the current set-up as a money making scam.
Do you see what most of us have in common
OK there is actually a third school of thought, there are those that think the current set-up is good, but they seem to be mostly new drivers and can be forgiven because they don’t know any better
On one module I attended there was a Latvian driver who could not string 3 words of english together, the instructor even said he would not ask him any questions or expect him to join in discussions due to time/confusion, the Latvian driver didnt undestand what the instructor was saying but sat in the classroom for the full day and never uttered a word apart from “biscuits” when the food came out! Nothing against the driver but how the heck can the dcpc be seen as a way of educating and help make a driver a professional when quite clearly its one big money making scam and a farce!

School of thought #4 here:
I agree wholeheartedly with compulsory regular training. All professional roles have it and we are professionals. Norbert Dentressangle’s training covers items not on the syllabus too, so our Drivers Hours module also included tips on fuel economy and defensive driving. They also used the chance to train us on new equipment and operational techniques.
I also agree with it on the basis that all the moody buggers who are saying it’s a money making scam and wont have any part of it, will be well ■■■■■■ off when I am in demand and they are unable to work!
You got one thing right nsmith, you WILL be in demand. There’s always room for a man who will willingly bend over and take whatever comes next whilst managing to convince himself that “it’s the right thing to do”.

I didn’t bend over, I had to do the modules to use my truck licence! I’m a new boy to the job.
The upside is that I have a card until 2016 and 21 hours thanks to ND. All ill need to do myself (if it comes to it) is an ADR licence and I am good through to 2021.
Ok then, I’ll change tack a little. As correctly stated you as a new starter had to do your course and tbh I agree that that is a very good idea. I think the old way of throwing a new starter some keys and a set of delivery notes just won’t cut it today. So yes, a weeks intensive classroom work followed by a weeks hands on practical work for all new licence holders is a great idea. Anybody who has been doing the job for x amount of time though should merely need to do perhaps a yearly tick test on things like tacho regs, vehicle checks etc. if, and only if they don’t come up to standard only then should they attend a version of the DCPC.
A fair point, but things change in a year. New regulations come in, different proceedures, etc. Employers should be required to provide at least a days training each year to make sure everyone is current.

Another brainwashed rooky…spoonfed the bullcrap…you realy are sucked in by it all…god help us all if this is the way forward…im realy looking forward to next year to see the outcome.poor lad.

What can anyone gain from one of these courses?
Sod all.
They try to teach people everything they should already know.
I was offered it for free last year, I left the firm as i felt insulted. I was the only driver that had never had an accident.
Given the absolute rubbish you’ve posted as fact on this forum you’re one of the most in need of doing it here.
Every time you try to slate me, I ask for evidence from you.
You never come up with the goods. You simply come across as a fool and a troll.
+1
Don’t take it personally mate, it’s a standard “Conor answer” , if you say something which he deems to be ridiculous he comes out with it, amusing really I got it a few weeks ago, but he ignored my invitation to elaborate and explain. I didn’t sleep for weeks!
