As a trainer I have no beef with making a profit from the driver cpc. In the same way that JAUPT had no problem relieving me of £3000 the other day for centre re-registration and course re-registrations.
What peeves me more than anything is the statements that are made along the lines that no-one will learn anything, that it’s boring, poorly delivered and a total waste of time. To prove my point, I will offer 2 free places on a cpc course on Saturday 31st August. The course has the heady title of Law for the Driver. It deals with many of the rules/reg except drivers’ hours. All I ask is for whoever comes to put honest feedback on the forum. If it’s crap, so be it. But I’m clearly hoping it wont be! The offer is open to truck or bus drivers who must already hold cpc entitlement in some form ie grandfather rights or a pass on Mods 2 and 4.
It’s a straightforward offer - call me on 01623 620062 during office hours. 1st come 1st served.
What a generous offer Pete, cant be fairer than that…where do i sign ? lol only joking matey…retirement is fine atm , and i still dont aggree with the dcpc. shytalk.

Hey mr smythe.
People are only speaking as they find!
Personally, I have done two days so far, they were with two different sets of people and all of the above applies.
You’re courses may be brilliant, but many, it seem are not.
I am willing to attend, but where do I have to go?
Pete, I can assure you that I will learn nothing from any course… I am a relatively new driver so am up to date with all regs etc, I am not 90 years old and ■■■■ scared of using digi cards.
This is not an attack on your CPC course, it is the whole DCPC in general…
Just to add, I was offered a free CPC course, I took one of them and said never again… 3 reasons
The course means I can not work a Saturday.
I would rather do something that I would learn from like adr or hiab than go over the same tachograph rules that I have gone over the last 3 courses
The last course I did was that bad the trainer ended up showing YouTube videos, some slightly offensive to people from the north east… This was a RHA course

Here’s a man who knows everything.
Don’t meet many like this…well, except for the one colleague I have!

There is nothing more annoying than being asked to demonstrate a manual entry on a simulated machine, doing it fine and sitting in a ■■■■■■ room for 4 hours because 3 or 4 people have been driving for the last 4 years by just putting cards in and constantly pressing Ok
The course should have a test at the beginning and you shouldn’t have to go over what you know
Our training centre is at Mansfield Woodhouse, Notts. (M1 junc 29/28 15- 20 minutes)
Pete
Pete… What does the course cover?
Sorry to sound sceptical but I am guessing it is the same “Drivers Hours & Digital Tachographs” as usual
Edit: Forget the above… just reread the OP, it sounds interesting it all depends on how its delivered and if it is 1 hours worth of info stretched into 7
If you have just laid out £3k then I’m sure it’s in your interest to deliver great courses where folk actually walk away having learnt at least one new thing from you.
I think a lot of the problem is with people who are employed by others to teach the DCPC and they couldn’t care less at the end of the day, they still get a wage.
Lets hope people enjoy your sessions, if I hadn’t have been going abroad on the 31st I’d have happily travelled from leeds to try your course.

Not for me , medically retired…but It will be good to see if people call and take up your offer, and will it be one of the real crazy brigade…and will they learn something.
At least you have the balls to do this to prove a point that you are trying to do proper training, because in my opinion there are loads here that need training.

Ahh well thats me out…only 20 mins away for me too.
After my comments I do not feel it would be fair for me to take Mr Smythe up on his offer, as tempting as it seems.
What can anyone gain from one of these courses?
Sod all.
They try to teach people everything they should already know.
I was offered it for free last year, I left the firm as i felt insulted. I was the only driver that had never had an accident.
It doesn’t matter what their feedback is it doesn’t negate the pointlessness of the DCPC compulsory training attendance.
I challenge you to name one topic covered by your classroom based courses that with the will to learn cannot be learned for free without attending a training course.

Totally agree. I’ve followed your comments on dcpc for a while on various threads and don’t have an issue with most of them. BUT, we have the system that is imposed on us - certainly for the time being. That being the case, it’s surely my job to make the day as least painful and enjoyable and educational as possible. We shouldn’t use our dislike of the system as an excuse for poor training.
I’m not going to attempt to defend the current dcpc. I’ve stated dozens of times that it needs revamping. My only point in this thread is that not all training is a waste of a day and I’ve offered to demonstrate that.
