…In that drivers need to ask questions about their route upon this forum, surely they would have researched(map) or asked a colleague who may or may not have used the route that they intend on taking…But the ultimate, they are already on the interweb if they are posting here, so why not search a more appropriate site?
So, if those of you who ask these questions would care to explain why they ask the question upon this forum, then perhaps there could be an app made available to better facilitate…What think you?
It’s a free country now jog on.
Who cares if they ask on here. They will get a good answer from someone either local or who goes there alot.
get a life ! who better to ask than a forum full of truckers for route advise as a person who answers my only live up road from destination

so why not search a more appropriate site?
Can I go up X road any weight limits or height restrictions to be wary of…show me a site on the internet that tells you about weight limits and height restrictions and I’ll buy you a pint.
This is a wholly appropriate site to ask as the wealth of experience on here usually gives you an answer in seconds. Not everyone has drivers to ask at crack of dawn.
Me I don’t ask anyone what route to take or where a drop is, I like getting lost
Why can’t we ask people on here for advice? It’s exactly the same as asking the driver that has been there since the year dot. I love the fact that you can post on here and someone would be able to help you, better than going in blind.
If you’re route planning surely you’d use any resource available to get the information, so you may ask colleagues or look at maps, google it or ask here, where you might find somebody who been there before or that even lives in the area you’re going and can give you the benefit of local knowledge. Only a complete [zb] would think that was a bad idea.
If this industry wants more fresh faced people then this is certainly not the right attitude to take.
I think that the silly question is the one you didnt ask.If in doubt best to see if any one on here or any where else can help. The easiest way into a place may not be the obvious way on a map or even a sat nav.
I am disappointed as well but for a slightly different reason.
While I agree there are some ridiculous questions asked I also feel some of the threads lack interest.
Some of the topics are just plain stupid.
However occasionally there will be a thread that is full of accurate information and has a good bit of banter.
Also we have to put up with the troll types that only comment to offend and add no quality to anything.
Actually as forums go it’s certainly not the best but also not the worst although when it comes to spelling and grammar it’s definitely bottom of the class.
What’s the point of having a truck forum if you can’t ask other drivers stuff

Nothing wrong with asking for directions on here, as mentioned some people have very good local knowledge and might point you in the direction of a good eaterie, a shortcut or even a road that’s best to avoid. If you don’t like what’s posted then don’t read it simples. I remember asking for a direction on here once and although i knew how to get there i had a choice of 2 A roads but was after a bit of help on which was the better option.
Frankly i’m disappointed in the OP !!
I find using google is great for checking destinations before making a post ;D
Nothing wrong with asking, it’s your choice if you want to answer the OP or not…
Some people get there details after they have gone home some. people don’t have work mates worth asking and not every one has a map to hand at home . Albion who give a stuff if people do not have perfect grammar as long as it’s readable crack on

If you’d been in this game as long as a lot of us you’d be loosing your marbles as well

So you think an HGV forum is NOT an appropriate site to ask about height, weight, width restrictions or the possible best route in an hgv to get from A to B?
A site where there are usually upwards of 100 members online at any one time who can answer almost instantly?
Where said members can tell of any roadworks or problems?
And you think it is a much better idea to trawl through umpteen different sites which might be wildly out of date and not updated for weeks at a time?
In fact, are you even aware of what the whole point of an internet forum is for?
i don’t mind some of the asking threads - they are far better than the endless what does stobart pay ones.
I do think some people should just pause for a few seconds before posting a thread asking best way from Nottingham to Bristol etc. but yes a lot of them are quite specific.
I prefer them to the endless tacho questions which make me laugh at how open to interpretation the law is and how farcical the DCPC has proven so far.
just awaiting shep now to come on and defend the DCPC.

Have you not just written in your post, that they should of asked a colleague who may or may not have used the route that they intend on taking?
This pointless post would imply that according to you we ( the trucknet community ) are not all colleagues - whether our marques, colour or load differ?
