Frankly, I am disappointed

To be honest Bob , why is it Frankly`s fault
live free - move on .

att:
…In that drivers need to ask questions about their route upon this forum, surely they would have researched(map) or asked a colleague who may or may not have used the route that they intend on taking…

Surely asking on here is the same as asking a colleague? Depending where they are, if for example they’re nighting out, its probably easier to get hold of someone on here for advice than trying to get hold of a workmate who you know is sat at home and probably wouldn’t want to know at 10 o’clock at night.

This forum has people on it 24hrs a day. You can ask a question at 3am and get an answer. Its also got so many members that there probably isn’t a single mile of road in the UK that hasn’t been covered by a TNUK member at one time or another so in that respect its even better than asking a colleague.

The proof is in the pudding … One common denominator for the following collection of truckers is; they did not ask for route advice on truck net.

OP getting no action between the sheets and venting his fury at us Newbies and Drivers?

Just a thought :grimacing:

I am disappointed as well but for a slightly different reason.
While I agree there are some ridiculous questions asked I also feel some of the threads lack interest.
Some of the topics are just plain stupid.
However occasionally there will be a thread that is full of accurate information and has a good bit of banter.
Also we have to put up with the troll types that only comment to offend and add no quality to anything.
Actually as forums go it’s certainly not the best but also not the worst although when it comes to spelling and grammar it’s definitely bottom of the class.

If you’d been in this game as long as a lot of us you’d be loosing your marbles as well :exclamation:

I would call almost 40 years quite a long time Dozy!
Never lost my marbles but lost my temper now and again.
All I can say thank god I have done my time.

Some people get there details after they have gone home some. people don’t have work mates worth asking and not every one has a map to hand at home . Albion who give a stuff if people do not have perfect grammar as long as it’s readable crack on

I don’t give a stuff either. I just find it a little sad at times but then maybe we are not the brightest bunch and we can’t be perfect at everything.

Att does have a point, just look at the thread where a driver was asking how he can avoid being fined for taking a break on a motorway sliproad?
You can’t educate pork, that’s why there’s never a pig in the circus.

If you don’t give a stuff, why mention it then?

You should have a new user name IMO. How about ’ Contradiction King ', or maybe ’ Bolloxtalker ’ ■■

I don’t mind them asking, but not for guide me type, if they have looked at routes and cannot decide which is best, fair enough no problem.
it’s when they have never looked at a map or anything, just asking cos they are to idle or can’t be bothered spending time to sort it.

I’d say this is THE single most appropriate site on the Internet to ask for route advice from a community of people with relevant experience for what your wanting to know!

I’ve tried to find info on the Internet before now regarding low bridges etc and I struggled. Well, I didn’t find anything!

i cant see much harm in asking …

but there could be a hell of a lot of harm in listening !!

recently we’ve seen inappropriate advice for dealing with low bridges ,

bonkers routing (s wales-northampton=M4,M5,M42,M6,M1 !!)

crazy parking (blind corners)

and libdem recruiting propaganda .

peruse at your pleasure …

repent at your leisure

Irony.

Well I for one wish that I had access to this after last night, I had a trailer swap a phone number and wrong directions and no exact address from the driver I was dropping off to. The cig lighter and all power points in cab were not working, google maps would not download to my rapidly dying phone, the driver I was dropping to was not answering his phone, the population of Slough area seems to be Polish and Asian with limited language and local area knowledge … thank ■■■■ for the Mrs and her albeit poorly explained directions via phone, finally got there!!! So ata I for one think this is the perfect place to ask advice/ directions, after all you don’t have to reply do you■■?

Hi bored I have seen this route to Northampton suggested a few times before, I sometimes take M5 A46 A45 M45 M1… for a change

I were gonna ask if anyone on TRUCKNET could help me grease my kingpin…

Realised its a bit of a non specific question so I slung it up on MUMSNET.

Fingeres crossed…

Chainsaw , yeah that route is fine .

I sawed my own post off , was meant to say : M5,M42,M6&M1 , is dumb .

Soz for confusion i created

WHO IS FRANKY ANYWAY??..alright i`ll get me at and coat.

So…There is not yet a truckers map app? I would have thought that someone would have jumped on this with the latest situation with lorry drivers, in that along with the general population they probably do not read/own their own maps, so a map app for truckers would be ideal and a bit of a money spinner…TruckNet should get onto this, they could make loads of dosh.
