I think it’s as it says. Dart Group have done it to free up cash and to save Jet2. In the coming months Jet2 and every other airline in the UK are going to beed every penny they can get. This action of freeing up nearly £100 million will probably prevent Jet2’s job losses.
I don’t know about how it will affect Fowler Welch. Maybe a streamlining and a few cuts here and there. But wouldn’t have thought anywhere near the extent that Jet2 would have to cut (most airlines are cutting around 30% of their workforce, so that would equate to around 4,000 Jet2 jobs).

Or wage rises as I believe Culina pay more than FW.

Doubt it, they’ll probably get new trucks in line with Culina run, put the Fowler Welsh into their livery and run it as they were before, like all of the other companies they bought…
What do Culina…
Do that makes them so successful in this particular field?
I have driven for them once on chilled and found the whole paperwork with/for everything, every second written down, H&S obstacle course and where I was, stuck up planners attitude quite oppressive. But, they do seem to be good at chilled distribution. Certainly more so in my opinion than the green death and it’s Keystone cops type operations which I witness daily.

They have the volume, bit like an invasion, some will not make it, those that do are the heroes… And they are German… Efficiency, is why the blitzkrieg worked.
The parent company / owner of Culina is Herr Muller of the yogurts fame.

Indeed. Has a history of hoovering up companies.
Theo Müller (Group) owns Culina, Optipack, Fahrzeugtechnik Aretsried (transport), Muller Naturfarm (fruit processing company), Nordsee (German sea food restaurant chain iirc). In recent times they’ve swept up Robert Wiseman dairies, Dairy Crest dairies and now Fowler Welch. Theo is worth about $5.2bn and the company has an annual revenue of approx $6.5bn .

And Great Bear
Wasn’t it Culina that Glyn Davies (ex Russell ex Hanbury) went to? If so might explain the acquisition thing.
Speaking of Fowler Welch, does anyone here work for them on artics? I’ve unexpectedly just been offered a job there and it’s better money than what I’m currently on, albeit further to travel to. Is it micro-management central, with spy-in-the-cab and dismissal for not walking between painted yellow lines, type place, or are you left alone?

I’ve done quite…
A few day shifts for them out of the Spalding depot. There’s a bit of paperwork faff to go through on your first day. I found the planners to be slightly abrupt and expect you to know everything as well be able to read minds but, that’s what agency men do isn’t it. The work itself was easy enough. Long shifts you’ll be doing a 15 gauranteed somewhere in the week. The only crap I found was the awful treatment handed out at Stanstead airport freight terminal so, not Fowlers fault really. They left me alone all day and I only called in if there was a problem or just to cover my arse. Most jobs were dock to dock and hand your keys in. Just a couple with the pallet truck.
If I had to, I’d do days for them again. The kit’s good and you won’t be expected to run with dodgy tyres lights etc.
This was a over two years ago so, the whole thing might have gone down the tubes.
