Being new to TN I dont know if you had this discussion before, on my travels I have seen many trucks with various different coloured lights. Now some of them look quite nice but some are well yuk, a few of the better ones I have seen would be a firm called Durrants with some good looking Volvos, a very shiny red Scania and a loverly red and white Scania with a fit looking female driver(see her lots on the docks must pluck up the nerve to speak to her). My 10 year old son says they look cool. On the other hand I have seen a whitish Scania covered in amber or yellow lights (well YUK) is this now OK,or is it still white lights only, if it is against the CU rules how do people get away with all those yellow lights?
White and amber to the front, red and amber to the rear are the only legal ones.

Funny you post this today , this morning I saw a white Scania on the A14 with 4 red lights fitted to the grille , surley it’s only a matter of time before the fella gets a pull 
By the way , I’m not against lights etc being added if they look cool
But’ one mans meat ’ and all that…

sorry connor your wrong the law states that only lights you are NOT allowed to show forward is red,there is nothing covering any other colour.
but the law states the only lights allowed backwards are red continuously and orange as directional lights i.e indicators,
thats from the M.O.T manual and as being an ex mot tester i had to read the thing everyday 
I took a friends lads Punto for it’s MOT last year and it failed on the fact that the washer jets had blue lights in them, I pulled the wires and got a pass!

this is true, any amber side lights on the front will get a mot failure, white and green is fine, its still a grey area as to blue lights on the front.
the 4 corner markers must be white for mot test, some stations wont pass LED white bulbs must have the cream standard bulbs fitted.
I thought displaying blue lights to the front left you open to a charge of impersonating a police vehicle. (In a car onbviously)

Really? Our later model CF space cabs have all got white LED’s as the two corner roof lights. Also many of our trailers are LED’d from back to front.

SAME HERE,NEW SDC TRAILER,LED’S ALL ROUND,WHITE ONES ON FRONT OF TRAILER APPROX £36 EACH TO REPLACE

As far as I’m aware, technically it’s to do with “E” markings. If they’re not E marked, they’re not technically legal. Any LED light that comes are standard on anything you buy will be E marked but the cheap LED bulbs you can get to replace normal ones in your car/truck are more often than not lacking in the E marking and therefore technically not legal.

Surely the MOT testers are not removing every bulb to check for E markings?. I have fitted LED sidelight bulbs (in the correct colour) to my car and haven’t had a problem with MOTs for the past 2 years. Granted they will not be technically legal, but it would have to be a really bored copper hell bent on doing you for something to go looking for E numbers.
I wish they would bust these boy racers with their illegal, bbadly mounted HID conversions. The amount of cars that dazzle me with badly fitted aftermarket headlights is unreal.

dont know how i passed last week and for the last 3 years with 12 showing to front
know a driver who got back to his base and his boss said had vosa on the phone they saw you on m11 this morning and you have to take your colour lights off now or if you are seen again it will be taken further LIGHTS WHERE BLUE top popeye, top light bar , front bar, low bar, plus front side lights the lights now have got white l.e.d bulbs
well i was doing a bit of recovery work for night time callout for police a few weeks ago and my transit spec lift has got 8 blue led(4 bolt type led and 4 led lamps)on the front bumper 5 lights above the cab.white led sidelights and never had 1 word even when i got pulled by vosa on a roadside check did it get pulled up about.
