Something on another topic made me think about this. Do you ever wonder how the immigrants from europe seem to find jobs. We have high unemployment yet they seem to have no bother getting a job. The reason is they take the jobs that the British wouldn’t touch too menial for them. I have a Polish friend who is a qualified engineer and is working sweeping up the local bus and train station. The money he gets for that is more than he would get in Poland as an engineer. Another one is a teacher and she works in a cafe earning more here that there. They work in shops cafes bars on the bins street sweepers etc and most do the unsocial hours that would interfere with the social life of the British. Many are well qualified in other professions but are willing to take any job going as they all pay better than in their own country. Not just the Polish but all the europeans coming here.
As for the Polish truck drivers some are good some are bad but it is the same with the British. The problem they caused was the lowering of the wages which was disastrous for our own drivers. We can’t really blame them but blame the bosses who employ them but then if you had a company and got a cheap driver would you hire him or go for a much more expensive one.
I have no problem with foreigners coming here but I think there should be a cap on numbers especially on those from Africa Asia and the middle east it is them not the europeans who are the biggest drain on our services.
Having said all that I still blame the eu for all our troubles with their dogmatic edicts on what we can and cannot do. The best way to resolve this problem is to vote no to the eu and in a year or two things here will be better I am sure. It will only get worse if we remain in it.
There are agencies that advertise uk jobs only to foreigners there’s ee web sites set up to do this , so there are jobs available but only if you aren’t a uk citizens

Firstly I think the scam works on the basis that the emloyers’ federations like the CBI want easy open access to immigrant labour particularly from backward economies like Asia,Africa and Eastern Europe.It would obviously be counterproductive to that agenda if that immigrant labour wasn’t then given equally easy access to the labour market when they’ve got it here.IE if our own were given priority that would defeat the object of the scam because the immigrant workers would obviously then want out and not come here.Which still then leaves the issue of immigrants just coming to take advantage of our relatively better benefits and health provision.
As for menial jobs I worked for 5 years as a very low paid council driver with other indigenous council workers like drain/gulley cleaners and tip workers etc etc who’d spent most of,if not all, their working lives in the job.At least in my case I don’t remember any Asian or Africans working there with us and all that well before Eastern Europe was on the scene.
Norway is not a member of the EU but even they have an open border directive imposed on them by Brussels and they have a higher percentage of immigrants than the UK. In or out this country is buggered for eternity while the EU exists in it’s present form. From the Treaty of Rome to total ■■■■■■■■■■ by unelected dictators in half a lifetime

Then, and this is where they differ from Brits who are now a divided society…by design but they aided and abetted those who designed their division and overrule…they look after their own, they get their friends and countrymen in whenever they can, those who are worth employing though, not the sickie crew.
Employers who’ve found good reliable results with EE’s are naturally quite happy to employ others EE’s, they don’t make trouble, they don’t cause problems re religious or other issues, what’s not to like if you’re an employer.

That may be the case where you are Juddian but I have seen countless East Europeans who cannot string 2 words in English together and have seen first hand the havoc and destruction that they cause when let loose in an LGV. There are good and bad amongst them but then I guess that goes for the people employing them as well!

Why has free movement of labour between the ‘Common Wealth’ countries historically been more a case of free movement between UK and Asia/Africa/Caribbean states than UK/Canada/Australia/NZ.Here’s a clue it has nothing to do with African and Asian workers being better brighter workers than Brits.
If Brits are the hopeless workshy lot you’ve described how do you explain the more advanced prosperous nature of the English speaking world v all the rest.While as I see it it was the industrial know how and determination of Brits that won WW2 when they stood alone against Germany.IE it wasn’t Polish or Romanian designed and built Spitfires that won it.
As for language skills yes we know English is a lot easier to learn and use than Slavic or just about any other language on the planet because again unlike their’s it’s superior.

Carryfast I think you need to read up on the history of WW2 The red army was the real reason the nazis were defeated. The red army marched and fought to reach and take Berlin No other country would have managed that. The british army didnt land on french soil and march to Berlin. The soviets suffered more losses than any other country. Love 'em or hate 'em the valiant red army were the only ones who set Berlin as the target and when they took Berlin that was the beginning of the end. They deserve respect for that and I for one salute them for what they did.

Exactly where were the ‘Red Army’ in August 1940 and as I said exactly what aircraft type stood in Hitler’s way at that point.Bearing in mind that Russia was actually on the side of the Axis at that point in time.

To be fair that doesn’t change the basic premise that the Brits ain’t exactly a bunch of no hopers in terms of industrial know how and not being afraid of a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay.The fair day’s pay bit being the historic problem of Brit employers putting short term greed ahead of the national interest and economy.
