I just read that story on the BBC and I thought I’d come on here to see what people were saying. I actually really stupidly thought ‘it may stop the old trucknet women moaning about foriegn using our roads for free’. How wrong was I. You’ll just moan its too little instead. Just goes to prove my point that people on this poxy forum are never [zb] happy with anything. £10 a day is a fair amount. For €8 you can drive in Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, Denmark and Sweden.
Have a nice day blaming anything from abroad for all your ills like old women over the garden fence.
No need for a response like that, i have no issues with you and enjoy watching your videos but you come on here kick off like that and then wonder why people give you abuse back, just chill out its a forum and everyone is entitled to their opinion…
Anyway, i think most people have little faith in the goverment to do what they say there going to do and the fact that if i does happen why has it taken so long to be introduced.
Im sorry but for years one of the main gripes on this forum has been ‘johnny foreigner using our roads for free’, the government make firm plans to change this and bring in a charge comparable to many other European countries and what do you all do, moan that ‘johhny foreigner won’t be paying enough’. You lot will never be happy. Or rather the only thing that does make you happy is having Johnny Foreigner to blame all your ills upon.
I hate this phrase but the ‘reason I dont post here anymore’ is the constant negativity and ■■■■■■■■ about everyone the Trucknet grannies deem worthy of abuse, from Scania drivers, to drivers who spend money on their trucks, to enemy number one Johnny Foreginer. Im glad im not part of British transport any more.
If you’re no longer a British driver I think you should be charged £1000 every time you visit.
Wheel Nut:
The French do not charge a daily road toll, the operators of the motorways charge you to use them, it is not compulsory.
It’s hard work these days trying to cross France using the National Routes, there are lots of towns with weight limits now, forcing you back on to the peage.

Reading some of the bigoted, misinformed and just plain moronic comments on trucknet these days makes me glad I no longer have to sit in RDC waiting room or tea vans and listening to it for real. However there are people on Trucknet who’ve given me a great deal of help or just post interesting and witty stuff which is why I’m still here.

Alas many of them have gone, including Coffeeholic who was for my money the best poster, and the most helpful. And even Rob K whobioften disagreed with but he made things very entertaining!

Yep I had noticed an absence of Coffeeholic and some others and there does seem an increase in RDC moaners. Quite frankly reading their posts I don’t think they enjoy their jobs at all. if I thought my job was that bad I’d get out, In fact I have done in the past, but maybe that’s the difference, some change their situation and others just sit and moan about it, while expecting others to solve their problems.
basicly in to many country tasked abot10 Euro per day,how many day foreigh truck will be in this country -ALL DEPENDS.BUT problem not in Polish company,if you see here to many Polish trucks.PROBLEM,BECAUSE LAST 10 YEARS TO MANY,MANY YOU BRITSH COMPANY MOVED PRODUCTION TO ABROAD,AND NOW SOME LORRY MUST BRING THIS PRODUCT TO ENGLAND.

I was quite ■■■■■■ when i posted and in all fairness i couldnt give a toss if there charged to use the roads. I havnt read the article but someone said it will becoming in, in 2015? I wouldnt go as far as to say thats a “firm plan”, i think when it actually comes into effect people will have a completely different take on it.
Instead of having a pop why dont you question people on why they think so and so, perharps some people dont know all the facts?
Your completely different person when you post on here sometimes and its abit of a shame really.
I’m not fussed one way or another about the cost, it’s going to be around £1000 more than they pay now so it’s a start. Will it help the industry here? No idea.
Last time I checked this was a forum. People post stuff and others comment on it. You don’t have to like it, agree with it or even respond to it. Why bother to come on and moan about the possibility of people moaning? Sounds a bit stupid to me. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. One mans moan is another’s point of view. Isn’t it ironic that people will spend time doing the very thing they are complaining about others doing, before they have had a chance to do it.

What do you think I’ve been doing in the past few years on here? You really think I haven’t questioned people on their views over and over and over again? Try it, its like banging your head against a brick wall. People on here dont have these xenophobic views because they have thought rationally about it, rather that the Sun and other forum member tell them its the truth. It came to a head earlier this year when Rikki told me to stop challenging Carryfasts racist views. If he doesn’t care about it why should I? (although ironically I think Carryfast is one of the few that has actually thought about his views)
And I’m completely different to what exactly? Im fairly opinionated on both Twitter and my vids so I dint see where you’re coming from.

I’d say your posts are coming across quite aggressive with regards to this thread, e.g the post you put up about “shopping trolley trucks”, your not the only one on here that drives a shiny white scania with all the toys and wears their own clothes you know. Perharps I’m taking them the wrong way quite possibly.
Just because other people havnt listened to what you’ve got to say doesn’t mean to we’re all like it, I’m more than up for a debate, it normally changes my take on a subject anyway.

Yes, you are. And maybe I am aggressive, and maybe it has something to do with many of the people on this topic wanting my employers priced off the hallowed turf that is British roads. Because dont forget I work for ‘Johnny Foreigner’. I think this road charge is a good idea and set at a fair rate. You get an intresting perspective driving a foreign lorry, in so much as you’re always the foreigner wherever you are. Maybe some on here should try it, they may not be so quick to slag others off then.
It’s quite bloody simple in my mind, for a foreign operator to be able to run and do uk jobs cheaper than UK hauliers is WRONG, simple as that, if they need to levy them in order to redress the balance then whatever it takes, if you work for a foreign haulier and you don’t like it tough, come and work for a UK haulier and show some bloody patriotism and quit whining because us guys who do work for and with the Uk economy want a fair crack at both employment and sensible rates.

I can understand it from your point of view, but i do think you need to stop thinking that everyones making personal attacks though.

Well if you bothered reading my posts properly unlike you I think this system is a good idea. I was complaining about you guys that won’t be happy till the borders are completely closed and you’re all living in a wonderland free of foreigners. You be handing over a lot more of your patrotic pounds though to pay for your goods.
I think the key point is that the foreigners will have to pass the costs onto their customers, yes it won’t cost them a penny but it also won’t cost the U.K. firms a penny either. But the charge will make it harder for the foreign firms to undercut the native companies, which is one of the more common charges levied against them.
