Foreign driver's who speak no english!

el gordo 78:
fwiw, there’s a sweaty works at an RDC I’ve been to a fair bit and nobody understands a word HE says either so it’s not just poles

I had a load of sheep for an abattoir near wolverhampton a couple of years ago - I couldn’t understand half of what the night lairage guy was saying - he was definitely English - I think it was a black country accent ( he couldn’t understand my west country accent either) :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I don’t think it is because you are female, people pick on something about a person when they are berrating them. i.e. if it were a guy then it might be “look at that fat/bald/ugly pillock who can’t reverse” if they are of ethnic origin then that is usually used as the adjective for the statement, hence when a female mucks up the “Female” bit is used as the adjective. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

At risk of making myself unpopular with the other lasses, I’m afraid I’ve got to agree with the quote above wholeheartedly.

True cases of ■■■■■■ discrimination are, in my humble experience ( 8 years in the industry - 3 on the warehouse side, 5 on the road) , rare. Most are just banter - although there can be the occasional genuinely nasty incident, as experienced by Ladytrucker last year.

The vast majority are, IMHO, more to do with how you perceive things as opposed to how they actually are. I have long since been the first to stand up and say that if anything most discrimination is in fact positive - I know I’ve gotten a foot in the door in several places where a male driver with my then lack of experience wouldn’t have had a look in.

If you remember that the next bloke is probably treated just as badly (albeit with a different adjective in place of “woman/women”) then you’ll go a long way to getting over this one, and make your life far easier in the process. For example, I personally wasn’t offended by the comment which sparked all of this off - it merely illustrated a point, and could just have easily been refering to Yorkshiremen or Terrier-Owners.

Sorry girls, but get over it!!

Right…off to don my tin 'at and hide in the local nuclear bunker… :open_mouth:

tiggz:
i.e 20 shunts to get in a bay

Done that

tiggz:
lost

Done that.

tiggz:
late

Done that

tiggz:
etc etc

Done that.

Does this mean I’m getting in touch with my feminine side?

I’m not having a pop at women drivers before anyone kicks off.

You’ll be hanging pink curtains in the Volvo next - sweetie!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

This situation will definetly not go full circle if people just sit on their backsides and wait for it to happen.

so what exactly are you saying should be done, mass deportation, shoot on sight, what? :imp:

Gunboat up their Volga!

Seriously…

My opinion has already been voiced by a few others, but it’s pretty straight forward as I see it.

There’s no problem with anybody coming to work here as long as they get the same money we would (by ‘we’ I mean people who live here already, not people who can prove anglo-saxon blood or some such twaddle). That’s fair on us and fair on them, it’s not an issue about the employees, it’s an issue about the employers business practices.

Talking about how bad certain countries drivers supposedly are, isn’t gonna get us anywhere and it comes across as xenophobia.

Lots of good points have been made, by people on both sdes of arguments in this thread and I reckon if we really look at what we think and apply some common sense, we are all singing from the same hymn sheet already.

So yeah…polish drivers (LGV I mean, the original post has been kinda covered over) aren’t bad, but some of the people who are employing them are bad.

The Poles don’t have it all there own way, there is one job that someone will be nicking off a Pole in the next couple of weeks, and it comes with accommodation and free uniforms as well.

Oi, If my picture is not allowed in Bully’s then comments like that are not allowed either. :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp:

Jan Am Meats or something like that…

He was called Arthur IIRC, I got there about closing time and had to walk down the Pub to find him

And all the British drivers who went to work in Holland and Germany a few years ago ■■? how many of them bothered to learn German or Dutch ? hardly any.

All the British drivers heading to Spain to work how many of them can speak Spanish or will even bother to learn ■■?

This whole thread smacks of one rule for us and another for them

Good job you lot only have to read what I write, and not listen to it.

Zostać uczciwy ja cantomat zobaczyć co ten problem jest  :sunglasses:

Hear Hear that man :stuck_out_tongue: Exactly what Ive been trying to say.

Container work from Hamburg, local deliveries throughout the city.

Collecting containers from Pirelli Greco in Milan or from Busto Arizio for Perpignan without speaking Italian or French

44t railfreight from Luxembourg terminal or from Mannheim.

How many drivers have been using BP Truckstops in Meer as a base while working for Dutch or Belgian companies? There were even a load of British drivers working for a Danish company and taking all their international work.

On another point, I have seen far more bad UK drivers on our roads than I have seen bad foreign drivers

Wheelnut, which roads would be "our roads"then, because if you are telling me that the french or the italians are better drivers than the brits, you have lost the plot old friend.

Froggy have you been drinking?

My point about truck drivers not speaking the language works both ways.

What about all the British drivers who camped all over Europe for weeks on end?

Calais, 50 or 60 trucks on ferrymaster work Akesters, John Raymond doing trailer changes from Oostende etc

Zeebrugge, Bulkhaul drivers, Norman Lewis drivers, Neill and Brown, Curries, Archbold, Brittania. Mat Transport and Bowkers, not to mention all the muppet drivers. amounting to maybe 75 or 80 trucks

Ludwigshaven. 20 or 30 English drivers working out of BASF for weeks on end

Meer, Van Wingene, Breda Transport. Gentenaar. Bertschi all foreign trucks with UK drivers

Le Havre and Cherbourg, all the trucks running Spain port to port with no tax and using red diesel.

Hardly any of these drivers spoke any extra languages, in fact the wierdsiders from Bulkhaul didnt even speak english.

Most of these drivers and companies were taking work from the French, German, Dutch and Belgian drivers. They were tolerated but they were earning less than the locals.

I just wonder why all of a sudden a few Slipperys come to the UK to earn decent money, we are all up in arms.

Without Asians, we wouldnt have corner shops! Without Turkey we wouldnt be able to eat Kebabs after 12 pints of lager. Without Indians we would not have curry houses. The chinese have come in handy too to feed us after the pubs close too.
