JB:
so⦠after watching this thread for a while its blatantly obvious that some are resigned to it, some are rigidly against it, some just dont care, but WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?
The elections are upon us very shortly, in these days of wondrous technology send e-mails to the various liars⦠oooops sorry⦠political parties. Make your feelings known. We are a minority on the internet⦠tell your mates to shout about it.
DO SOMETHING⦠DONT JUST MOAN ABOUT IT ON HERE.
Ive been worked out of one job through cheap foreign labour. I
m ā ā ā ā sure i wont lose another to it without a fight.
Its nothing to do with racism. Thats just a convenient means of shutting people up because there scared of being branded a bigot.
What about black drivers in england being worked out of jobs? Are they racist to complain? Protecting your industry from cheap competition is the argument⦠not wether they come from poland or elsewhere.
Its happening now⦠not in the future. And it needs regulating
ā ā ā ā right mate. I know what we should do, and thats take a leafe out of the book of French truck drivers. Until that happens, the āwhat can we do about it?ā or ātheyāve got as much right as usā group of drivers will ensure weāre driven into the ground. No doubt that group of drivers will have plenty to say after the event, an event which may never happen if they could see past their own noses.
Well put Jon, I agree almost entirely, the only bit I would change is at the end āIt needs regulatingā Iād change it to āIt needs reducingā.
Passed you on Station Rd Tuesday last at about 16.15 just going past the newsagents, flashed you but you were busy watching traffic.
I can understand what you are saying JB, but there are many ill informed posts throughout TruckNet about it.
Some posts I read about Harry Vos employing solely Eastern Europeans,
The reality is Harry Vos started buying companies in Poland, Czech Republik and the Baltic States as well as France, Spain Italy and Belgium many years ago, he operates a vast array of trucks now that are registered in the country that he originally bought them. Originally all the trucks were running in the original operators livery with just a VOS badge on the grille As the trucks are replaced they are painted in the new orange livery.
In fact the Dutch companies who were running to Poland regularly also bought out many smaller companies to get a base there. It was the forward thinking companies that did this, Typically the British sit back on their haunches drinking tea and eating buttered scones until its too late.
H & S transport (Den Hartogh) are using some Polish drivers because they bought a tanker company in Poland and kept the drivers employed, they rebuilt the cleaning station and invested money in new vehicles.
As usual, Britain has left it too late again, and now everyone is moaning.
We have to beg to differ on this subject I suppose. The people at fault as far as I see it are the agencies who employ these hated drivers, and the companies that exploit them.
If I worked for one of these companies, then I would be making my displeasure known to the boss who paid my wages.
I also believe that if all these thousands are damaging trucks every day like it seems, then the companies will soon be out of business anyway, and the accountants will start asking questions.
If a Polish driver is driving 24 hours a day without keeping records, then the Ministry will soon close down the operator. If you know of any, ring the Vosa hotline, write to Harehills house, or your local TC
As I say we will have to agree to disagree because we are Poles apart

That pun was an absolute beauty!
Anyone read Jackās post over on the Vacancies Forum? I wonder how many of us can speak 6 languages.
On the subject of French drivers. They rarely strike, blockade or demonstrate. Itās the small hauliers and ODs who do. Can you imagine your boss allowing you to strike and take his very expensive motor out to demonstrate with?
On the subject of foreign drivers in France. I was welcomed with open arms and without discrimination or recrimination. To date there are no foreign drivers in the 70 odd strong fleet, apart from me (Iām still considered āpart of the familyā) and Manu the Portuguese whoās been there 20 odd years.
Salut, David.
Why donāt we all sell up here and move to Poland. You could probably buy 2 or 3 houses for the same price as one here. This would put the cost of living up in Poland,as the migration has in other parts of Europe i.e Spain. The spanish can no longer afford to buy in there own country.
IF THIS HAPPENED IN POLAND WOULD THEY STILL WANT TO COME HERE ?.
The whole European thing is just bringing the member states onto a level playing field this country is in decline.Spain will be the same when itās E.E.C grants come to an end in 2007.
These grants will probably then go to the latest new members and continue until europe implodes !.

I accept a German driver needs a German ADR Pete, these drivers I am talking of are British, none of these companies employed German drivers.PE Blake did do some direct work for BASF but that changed quite a few years ago, Gruber opened the UK office and all work was then directed through them.
There is a lot of people saying that you can buy a Polish licence for 2 pence. If anyone has any proof of this. Im sure it would be acceptable to post it on here.
And if anyone has ever taken a Polish HGV exam, maybe you should do a write up on here, There seems to be a lot of āsomeone told me this, someone told me that hereā
Hi(czesc) Iāve taken a Polish HGV exam 2 years ago.I was talking with one british driver about exams here and there in Poland. He said that HGV exam look similary.Year ago Iāve exchange Polish driving licence into British one.DVLA chacked up my licence and gave me British class 1 licence. So,if DVLA respect my Polish driving licence everything is ok.I made licence in Poland for about 500 Ā£. chris

Well said (and written) Chris, but I doubt it will satisfy some of the zenophobes on here. Just as a little test for them (the zenos), are you doing the job for half the pay? Or canāt you find one?
Not being nosy, just trying to put things in perspective.
