xxicelandicxx:
think im going to work for an irish/foreign company
Do you also want to work for 70 -80 hours a week mostly driving for €600.00 (£400.00) coz that’s what you have to put up with when you ignore speed limiters, hours regs, weight limits, Karl asked who are they hurting.
The industry and their jobs I know I would prefer to do a 48 hour week and get paid a proper wage.
We do, the Irish love to work like slaves, mate.
A55 coming from Holyhead approaching the bit with the narrow winding tunnel and 30 mph speed limit. I see two Irish (Cork) lorries in the mirror, already within the speedlimit, doing at least 50mph and starting to overtake me in the tunnel. Well, on top of the speed limit is a Overtaking ban in operation because this really is a dangerous bit of road. But hey, who cares. Paddy overtakes not just me but some more cars as well. I don’t mind these idiots overtaking me on the Motorway because xxicelandicxx is right, our speed limit for lorries is indeed 60 mph. But they tend to continue with this speed within any other national speed limit which, of course, is there for a reason.
To quote our friendly neighbour Karl again: ‘Yes well to be fair we couldn’t give a [zb] what you lot think of us’. This really should give you all an idea of what these people think about us.
i dont want to race around blowing people of road, thats not me sorry, and my company dont allow it anyhow as there on this fuel drive, drive proper thing, all i want to do is to drive as it says in highway code at 60mph on motorways, just as the law states, thats all.

As I stated before; I don’t have a problem with you lot doing the 60 mph on a MOTOWAY but for Haven sake’s just stick to the limits where it is appropriate and advisable. I am driving a lorry that is doing 53 mph max and I sometimes wish I could do the 60 on a Motorway but that’s the way it is and I have to live with it. All I am asking for is that you lot apply some common sense because our Traffic Laws exist for a reason.
On the other hand, I was just overtaken by another “Irish” lorry on Thursday, which was okay. What brought my blood to the boil though was when this idiot went back in front of me and slowed down to 50 mph for no ■■■■■■■ reason (why is it always you lot anyway). Just guess what happened when I tried to get pass this ■■■■■■■ And no, I was busy watching my own driving, meaning that I did not act offensive in any way. Everything would have been just fine if he would have carried on normally.
Now, I am not mad about you being Irish. There are many other idiots on our roads and by all means driving in Britain has become a nightmare. What annoys me though is your impertinent attitude which really ■■■■■. I promise you here that I will give a ■■■■ about you in future since you cannot be bothered to give one for us.
i know dennis, karl is a right prat and think its funny and clever to drive like a prat and sod everyone else in fact it seems with the typical paddy mentality.
No I/we dont actually. But do you really expect us to care about the english, or what you do
Ross.Northen.Ireland:
Im from northern ireland the last time i was going out on the boat i was talking to a fella and he said the same thing , he had 4 lorrys crashed / badly damaged inside 2 months … all 4 lorrys were bein drove by forgein drivers ? he also said they work for buttons too
Isn’t that the TED point?
Give the bloke a choice. eh?
Whinging, militant drivers who want 90 hours pay for 48 hours work or someone who is happy to work for a wage that keeps his family in food and kids in clothes.
The bloke is quite happy to pay buttons, if he paid the correct money, then he might have a queue of local drivers at the gate. Then he has a another choice.
Whinging, militant drivers You are right. They get the best pay & conditions but are never happy. I found the best jobs had the most poisonous drivers back stabbing each other. They had too much time on their hands. Tough jobs & all the drivers were were happy & united in their hatred of the boss…

i quite agree…what ice is saying is the speed limit for trucks on british motorways is 60mph but we are not able to do that because our limiters are set to 56mph.
i cannot believe the amount of abuse that you are giving to other nationalities, i personally dont blame anyone for wanting to better himself…and thats what they are doing…there is no shortage of drivers in this country…and its our own ■■■■ fault for the position we are in today …with low wages…■■■■ working conditions…and all the rest that goes with it…we have never been united …and never will…but if we were…things would be a lot different today…we never moan about the brits who emigrated to australia…or the brits who work for french…dutch…or whatever countries…so why slag off the poles or latvians…when i was on middle east work…the eastern bloc drivers were the first to stop if you were in trouble…more so than the brits…i work for a large company now …i`m on 30 grand a year…with 30 days holiday …without the bank ones…and we employ a few pole drivers …albeit on 26 grand a year…thats what i object to …paying a foreigner less than us doing the same work…so …if your unhappy with your wages…tell the boss to stick the job…if you have the guts to …i recently did…because i stand on my principles…and if more of you did the same …this industry would be better for it…i rest my case…

don’t worry, if we all complain they’ll reduce the limit to 56

I’ll be glad when the polish economy gets up to our level and then hopefully they can [zb] off home!!!
I mean Dart Group(owners of Fowler welch) are bragging in this weeks Commercial Motor of the amount of profit they have made with the help of lower paid Eastern European drivers, what does this mean?,the rate they do the job for is only any good if they employ a lower paid driver to do it or are they just exploiting these people?
Comments please.
It isn’t going to be that simple. In a year or so, the Ukraine will join the EU. Then there are countries like Croatia and Serbia who are seeking membership. And if all goes well, depending how you se things, 70 -80 million Turks too in the not too distant future…
…and as a couple of others have said here, I don’t begrudge these foreginers for coming to the UK to work to better themselves. It is the government which is to blame. Once again, looking after big business by supplying them with an bottomless pool of cheap labour. It is wrong. I heard that for example, the health service in Poland was in trouble, because their doctor’s are doing the same as the truck drivers, poumbers, builders, electricians etc etc and seeking oportuinites elsehwere. It’s only natural for a human being to want to improve him/herself…I believer that we, in Western Europe, should help build up their countries economically before allowing this mass free movement of people. But, there are some people who are making a lot ot money out of this…and I am not talking about the poor Eastern European…
i have noticed the irish trucks i see speeding along the motorway are from cork and guess what company they are usually from… Nolan transport. I was in ireland last weekend and went down to the south and had a Nolan truck sitting on my arse all the way down the country roads. Now we were in a small sports car and thought we were making good progress but he def was limited or sticking to the 85km speed limit for trucks. These guys are ok on the motor way but on the country roads i dont think it is right but is dangerous
