Foreign drivers ie poles and latvians

irish truckers dont have to stick to yhe regulations because the republic of ireland is a completly different country,
its like some one driving here from as far away as goa.
the regulations cant be enforced, it wouldnt pe possible.
but in saying that as these truckers drive in england allot then there is nothing stopping the police from targeting repeat offenders on motorways, after all the roads are full of traffic branch.
but the problem is if the police here was to stop an irish lorry for speeding. they would not get any browny points. browny points and money is what its all about for the coppers/
points could not go on an irish licence here.

You may not like the idea of it but what he says is correct, the police/courts can’t put points on their licences here.

no they cant but what they could do is like what the do to drivers in europe, ie oh dear driver broken brakelight thats 800 euros thanks

I saw an article in one of the magazine’s that UK police are going to hand out on the spot fines well not fines coz apparently they can’t so its going to be a deposit on the fine (but to the same value) and if the non-UK driver doesnt turn up for court they keep deposit
I heard that Nolan’s was looking for Irish drivers coz they couldn’t get insurance after loosing on average one truck a week

The regulations on speed limiters are EU regulations and apply to all member states, if a vehicle from Ireland is stopped in the UK, or any other member state, with a limiter that has been tampered with the police can take action. They may not be able to put points on their licence but they can do something about it if they wished.

RoadSailor is right when he says that it is the politicians to blame. Blair & the Irish priminister were the only ones in the EEC to open the door to 50 million motivated workers. Its not their fault its the cynical politicians keeping inflation down. But its a known fact that most foreign workers soon hate their host country. Its human nature. All this was caused by Blair ect. not asking the people about the decision…In the short term for the economy its OK ( . But not for UK drivers )But when the families grow they will need housing ,NHS & all the rest. The Swiss had the right idea; You could drive their trucks but you couldn`t live there.

Karl You are right about that. I had a great job with a late model truck doing containers around UK. I had to give up in the end because of the 90k limiter. I found would have to keep pulling over for 1 hour / 1.1/2 hour sleep because of sheer boredom. Get to the customers place and really need to sleep again. But every morning summer or winter I would wake up ( Still do ) at 3.30. I was becoming brain dead. When I started , I used the time when they were loading the container to clean out the cab ect. But after 6 months I became totally listless & lethargic. In 46 years of HGV driving everywhere I could count on one hand all the minor scrapes. One year in zombie land I had 7. One of them with a family in a Golf that got tangled up in my blind spot on a motorway. Nobody was hurt but the writing was on the wall for me. I quit trucking one month later & lived happily ever after…

I only meant for ’ karl ’ to be highlighted

It was announced today that 160 million are now unemployed in the UK. Lovely! The plan is working, that will keep wages down…
