in these uncertain times i think that there will have to be give and take on both sides of the fence, However given a penny pinch a pound some will exploit the situation…Double Manning hmm. Ask for a risk Assesment and what ppe they are providing, as for holidays then again give and take on both sides

I know we have to give and take but where is the social distancing, no risk assessment re double manning or ppe to protect us, I was told drive with the window open for driver and passenger don’t look at each other, hmm how do I check my NS mirror.
I’m not rasist but 80% of our drivers are from Poland as is the TM they are still shaking hands and no social distancing and are quite happy to double man.

Drive with the window open and don’t look at each other - who’s your TM, Donald Trump?

If i was being forced to double man then I’d be going higher and stating all the issues attached to this.

Yes i understand that it’s a difficult time for everybody BUT this is yours and everybody else’s health were talking about so get on to the TM’s boss who hopefully understands the situation a tad better and put the ball in there court and get the decision in writing.
At our place we have received lots of emails from bosses regarding no sharing of trucks (cleaning materials all supplied) social distancing, masks, sanitizer etc and we’ve also had alot of wellbeing messages (i know but that’s yanks for ya) [emoji1783] so it is easier for me to say these things but FFS do they not understand what this poxy virus is capable of ■■?

My job is double manned all the time, always has been.
Been no different through the crisis.
No ppe given either.
Work or go home with no pay.
Little choice.
Walk or work…

Raise a grievance with HR.

The firm I now work for have stopped assessments due to CV19! We are just given the keys and let loose. They are trying to get more experienced drivers because of this - but are scraping the barrel hence why they allow me to pilot their artics.

Companies have a legal duty to take reasonable precautions to protect you. It’s disgusting that they are not doing something to look after you.

No HR at my firm. Small outfit.
Owner is hands on and drives a truck himself as well.
Walk or work are the only options.
I’ve worked. So has everyone else to be fair.
Just glad to have a job at the moment.
I’ll be off as soon as i have my class 1 nailed though.

It’s marvellous how H&S is always priority and at the forefront of things normally, but only when it suits ‘‘them’’ and rarely ever when it can actually benefit us.
H&S ?..Disingenuous ■■■■■■■■. :smiling_imp:

You and the rest of your drivers should be all strongly protesting about it…at the very least, it’s your and your familly’s health ffs, :bulb:
Whether or not you believe the hype about all this Covid stuff, people are dying of this.
Are you willing to take that chance just for some little sh in an office trying to make himself look good?

I know it’s difficult to make a point in these times as they have the upper hand, but you have H&S on YOUR side this time. :bulb:

Hasn’t anyone considered constructive dismissal if he walks?

The maximum permitted external width dimension of the vehicle is 2.45m so it is impossible to maintain a distance of 2m between occupants. These companies are chancers relying on Bozo’s: " oh well only if it’s possible, if not ignore it because you are only plebs anyway shekels, shekels, shekels".
It won’t be happening in those companies with a strong Union presence in the workforce, so why should it happen elsewhere. It’s not as if it is a momentary closeness it is potentially 20 odd hours. These companies should be driven out of the industry if they are not prepared to reschedule their work.

Stay at home on 80% Furlough money or double man and risk Covid 19 and a possible free ride in a hearse, what a difficult choice.
Seriously though, every Employee has the right to PPE and its up to the Employer to supply it, along with a SAFE working environment.
Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but with H&S rules these days failure to do that leaves the Company open for legal proceedings and wide open to Employment Tribunal if an employee is sacked for going against Company orders.
Only MY own opinion

its only advice to stay up to 2 meters away, but apart from that, then what sort of divvy would want to do it anyway?
80% for being on holiday and working elsewhere for cash is a gift for anyone.
nancy has the right outlook.

Same at the place I’m working at. Just get on with it. Too many snowflakes these days hiding under their beds waiting to die from the deadly killer virus. /s

Ok, …Not sure what that means, but there you go.

I’m like this, I don’t believe everything I’m told/read/heard by any means on any subject.
I’m the most cynical bloke out, I always look for a hidden meaning or agenda on every bloody thing I’m told, by any official body,… basically I trust nobody in any form of authority, and so far I’ve done ok out of it.

However…

In cases like this I weigh up the situation, do as above, but at the same time keep a very open mind …when the words ‘health and death’ are mentioned!

I’d rather look a bit gullible and stay alive, than have an air of bravado and end up in a box. :bulb: …OR I could have that air and say ‘‘Told you so’’ with a gloat. :sunglasses:

Thing is I ain’t prepared to take that chance… :bulb:

So until I hear it has been false/hoax/scaremongering for a reason, or just old fashioned ■■■■■■■■, I’ll keep washing my hands, keeping my distance, and all the rest of it, if I get the ■■■■ ripped out of me for doing so?..Could not give a flying ■■■■. :bulb: . :sunglasses:

I have some sympathy for this situation, especially if your job doesn’t normally involve sharing a cab with someone. You don’t know how careful the other person is away from work and it is impossible to take evasive action when you are essentially confined to a space for several hours. It is a difficult one for sure, especially when you are working with muppets like you suggest.

On the other hand, your risk appears to be that the one person you are working with on any given day has Covid-19 and is contagious. The measures that have been put in place mean that person is less likely to have it than if we were all going out to bars and restaurants, cinemas etc etc. I get it that there is a risk, but there is going to be a risk for some time to come.

edit: On the legal side of things, I don’t know I’m afraid.

Are the external dimensions not 2.55m??
