Like skodia are such brilliant desingners , they based their V8 on someone elses, anyone know who’s?
Everyone based their designs on Leyland or Albion engines
Another little known piece of Daf trivia, they also made a two stroke diesel engine, there’s one in their museum in Eindhoven
And that’s where it stayed probaby because they knew that it would be easier to just import the already available tried and tested Detroit two strokes and leave that to FTF.But there’s also Merc,Saurer,Maggie Deutz and others who don’t seem to have any connection to Leyland group engines ■■.

Only just read this thread and expected a few pictures, yes it was a ■■■■■■■ and the one that travelled the furthest away was Chris Hooper Cooperman
hooperman bought one of the pair from norman offers in southampton. both N reg 500 ■■■■■■■ left hookers. iirc they were the first 2 in the country.
If I remember correctly Laugh engines sorry Daf engines are still
based on the original 680 leyland lump so the technology is not
exactly cutting edge!!

It all depends on your point of view.Anyone who experienced the way in which a DKS-3600 could sort out most things comparable,or even the bigger 14 Litre ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ say it shows just how good the 680 actually was when DAF had the sense to put a turbo charger on it.
