roast beef Monday ,Steak on Tuesday , Gammon Wednesday , Sweet n sour Thursday and what I buy on a Friday pay day

Get some quick noodles from an oriental supermarket , they do several versions/ flavours.
Mix rolled oats and powdered milk and just add bòiling water .
Boil in the bag rice and tins of curry/ chilli etc .
Use the deli at supermarkets also their hot food bars .
Try to eat healthier in the UK required a bit of planning
In Europe it is much easier and vastly cheaper .
If not having a regular truck then only having a cool box and a portable stove is very limiting as we don’t seem to cater for anybody travelling except for the usual fast food or cafe fare in this country .
Supermarkets are very useful for good value restaurants if you can park .

If the missus is making a meal in the week for the kids (think I have kids, ain’t seen them in years, ones ginger so it’s understandable) I ask her to make me a portion for me and freeze it.

We also have a portion for portion deal whereby if she gives me a portion I give her one.

Truth be told I’ve been on supermarket meals for 3 years.

An easy but healthy cab cooking menu, I eat a lot of Japanese food as it is healthy and easy to prepare, Sushi dishes are easy enough to prepare in your cab. I don’t store fresh fish in my cab but simply stop off at any supermarket and pick up fresh fillets. Also a wok is a great addition to the traditional frying pan, stir fry is simple to prepare in a cab.and no dout caviar and a glass of nobs creek

I’m considering going full time, so this thread is of great interest to me.
What do you do about washing up? Do you take a washing up bowl with you?
If tramping, what is your pre shift loadout routine? Jerry can, gas heater, plate, kfs, etc, etc…

The camping stove is perfectly safe used inside the cab if used & stored correct simple

I self cater often cook chicken at home buy some salad easy to prepare also cook some meals at home to take with me ( I don’t have a microwave in the house or the cab for that matter ) a small stove with pan, frying pan in cab do have some tins for an emergency

No need for milk as never use it have yogurts fresh fruit no chocolate

Easy to do just have to think a little

All my stuff stays in the cab.
Just top up my jerry can…which I only use for brews.
Washing up is via kitchen roll and kitchen wipes.
One pot cooking…eat out the pan.

Degreaser to clean then give it all a wipe with disinfectant. Take plenty of kitchen roll.

Pre shift loadout routine? Fling stuff into the truck, get going

Most likely 99.9% of the time a gas cooker in the cab will be fine but i still only use it outside the cab, they might only be little aerosol gas canisters but its still butane/propane. Ill even disconnect the cannister from the valve when im done with it. Maybe over cautious but ive seen first hand the damage it can do if it does go wrong. Most things can be done in the microwave but some food is just better on the burner…does toast as well…

You can’t beat a big plate full of Glasgow Salad

Don’t have the canister type have this instead
millets.co.uk/equipment/107 … lsrc=aw.ds

Much better & safer

If you open little bit Windows that 100 percent safely .

I buy hot food every time, I do carry some emergency stuff in my fridge and some microwave meals that I can pop in the microwave at one of our terminals. Some guys carry a microwave or butane burner, not me ! … I do carry a coffee maker but it’s a real pain in the rear having to clean it out after each brew.

Still uses a canister, just a different type. I have one of these but I gave up on it because it can be quite hard finding gas for it when on the road whereas you can find gas for the other type everywhere and its usually cheaper

To bump the thread, newly passed ADR driver- so, how many of you carry stoves whilst plated up, and still happy to use the gas to cook inside the cab when laden with something hazardous.

I know what the answer and possibly law states, just interested in the real world scenario

Never worried me.
