Tower Hill Transport from Boston. I read somewhere that when they loaded out of London Brick they had to leave room for ten ton of spuds on top of the load, how true that is I have no idea! I believe it was one of their lads who was stopped for being overloaded and called into the yard to ask what to do. “Put some onto your running mates lorry” was the answer, his reply was “That’s no good, he already has more on than me”! I get the impression that they ran top weight plus a ‘little’ bit more haha. Whatever they put on them the old Fodens would take it willingly.
Pete.
Only got pulled in once for weight check ,tried to tell copper I were empty he were having none of it. Onto scales ministry man starts to set about me " ain,t my fault I,ve got a good idea what my tare is, set about that t**t at the t,other end of lay by ! "
That would do me very nicely, rip that blooming noisy ■■■■■■■ out and put a decent engine in its place and off we would go to do a days work…if there is still any work around worth doing of course!
