Shipstones Star Brewery at Nottingham were longtime Foden users, they were painted red and there are several in preservation and still have the two stars on their cab fronts.

Some how I guessed that might be red, what a smart little Foden. The driver would have been proud of that when first climbing in.

The whole of Shippo’s fleet was something to be proud of, and that includes the horses and drays which continued right up to the time they were taken over I think. I could be wrong on that though because I don’t know when they disappeared. or by whom.

I could not make out the area and to my surprise the company is still listed in Bridlington with Watts family members on the board. Incorporated in 1944. That makes a change.

That photo was of a large contract they had delivering chalk to St Georges Dock, Hull. The chap in the pic was the fleet engineer who started with the company at the time it was formed during WW2.
