There’s a bike painted white against the fence in Bronze steet, Deptford here. I would imagine the bike was pronounced ‘dead at the scene’ as was the rider.
How the hell can people move on when you set up something like this to string out the grieving pretty much forever?

Yeah slap some rent & tax on it & I’m fine too…
I think these are getting out of hand now; some verges around here have so many crosses, mouldy bouquets and general tat left behind after a crash they’re becoming a second grave for the victim. A bouquet shortly afterwards is fine but why keep doing it years after?
How come there’s one on the M40 between J8a and 9 Northbound? I know someone was walking on the hs and got hit a few years back but how are relatives allowed to walk/parkup on the hs to tend this memorial?
its all very Spanish aint it
i’m with you on this
ok at time of accident but not forever

whilst i agree there is one just outside fordingbridge in new forest at one point it was quite big but council got involved and now its much smaller shrine it was years ago and serves as a reminder of the road
There’s been a collection of mouldering football shirts, flags and photos in Swindon near the Railway Village/ TK Maxx area. Surely time to move on?
If I ever (God forbid) get wiped out on a road, my family have been forbidden to put flowers or anything else there. The last thing I want is a lasting memorial to me having snuffed it doing something stupid…
I hate them.
My family is well aware of the places that I find special & where I die isn’t neccessarily one of them.
This is purely a product of cheap Mediterranean holidays.
your hard pressed to find a spare lampost on the leeds ring road.
I know what you mean, in Greece they have those model churches with tat inside them; I saw one over 30 years old in Zante.
I think the M40 site is where the children were killed when the school minibus hit the Traffic management truck on the hard shoulder several years ago. Whilst a very tragic accident, I cannot see the point of risking more lives on the hard shoulder by laying flowers. I know the HA are trying to deter long term memorials through liaising with Police Family Liasion Officers.

It might be the same location, but there’s a cross with a blokes’ face on it. I remember the crash you are referring to; the M40 couldn’tve been open that long when that happened. Didn’t the teacher fall asleep and the minibus caught fire? Our school took 2 minibuses out of service after that crash (side facing seats)

In that case we should cover the hospitals in flowers. It does make you think when you flowers and burnt tarmac at the roadside though. I like the idea in Cambs where there’s signs with victims face, name, age on it to warn other drivers. Much better than a mouldy bunch of tulips.

i agree,we all grieve in different ways, not my idea of grieving, but if someone would like to put some flowers at the spot they lost a loved one its fine with me
Even if they’re stopping on a hard shoulder, or some other stupid place, to do it? Do you think they’ll be insured if someone with no licence kills them, Ady?

exactly what ive told my mrs.
this sounds bad but they need to be moved ASAP. it makes drivers look which means it is taking there eyes of the road which could cause another fatal
There is no need to erect a bloody shrine at the roadside, who wants to be reminded where your son or daughter was killed?
The first time I saw it was in Yugoslavia and Greece but it is spreading here now with piles of rotting flowers and signs hung from trees. If you want to remember someone, use the weekend to tend their grave or plant a tree at the crematorium.
They do make people take their eyes off the road and these families may unwittingly cause another fatality!
There is a Valentino Rossi 46 shirt hung from a tree near Tutbury, why? VR isn’t dead, the bloke who hit the tree must have thought he could ride like his hero, he obviously couldnt!

well according to you lot,you dont need a license to be insured ,thats whats youve all said on that thread havent you,i said how can you be insured if you havent got a license, good try at back-tracking though
