Flip Flop wearers

being a “plastic russian”, I wear flipflops only when I can’t be arsed to put on my tux and shiny shoes.

Boots only come off on long journeys and I drive in my socks. Had a bloke in our yard few months ago, me and my mate couldn’t believe what we saw when he jumped out… wooden clogs :stuck_out_tongue:

Euro truckers uses to wear clogs made of real Friesian or Hereford cow hair.
Added to that to be look at me,they wore a six foot long steel chain attached to belt loop in the cut off jeans with a few weeks running money cash in the wallet.

We have Dutch wagons in our yard regular and if the driver is Dutch you can tell easily as it is surprising how many still drive in clogs though not the traditional old all wooden type tourists buy but wooden soled with leather straps

Makes me laugh when the foreign blokes stroll round a yard with flip flopsflops ,mucky flowery swimshorts ,hivis vest and a ■■■ in the mouth, then the shunter spots them and trys to tell them the error of their ways, lots of finger wagging ,arm waving and gets nowhere

Like anyone gives a monkey’s chuff what a shunter thinks… :unamused:

Cheers mate. I’ for one will sleep far more soundly knowing that it is in fact ok and I’m not contravening any laws.

I don’t know i’m asking the question.
Surely when driving a truck it’s classed as being at the work place so surely you must have the adequate ppe on at the time.

We get issued a pair with our uniform.

As far as I’m aware safety boots protect your toes from objects that may drop on them. I’d imagine that any crash severe enough to result in losing your foot would have the same outcome regardless of whether you were wearing stilettos or steelies.

Just looking at it in a H&S point of view.
You wouldn’t ware a pair of trainers in a warehouse (Place of work)
So as a truck being a (place of work) is this the same■■?

I agree, I often see the bankers in canary wharf with their rigger boots on! We should wear them in the cab!

I wondered how the foot prints get on the bed.
