Flagship Trucks

Was half expecting to hear you say somthing like “and I’m Luke Vernon, bull transports no1 and Europes finest trundlewagonist”

eagerbeaver:
I would say I am mate. I reckon I could have played the guitar whilst kissing the gaffers backside.

Guitar? Thought it was the ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■’? :open_mouth: That would deffo get ya a shiny new flagship!

Haha, " Trucking trombonist ". Just thought the vid was a bit cringy personally Actrosman.

It was extremely cringeworthy. Why I liked it, very Alan Partridge  . That brand loyalty thing was a strange comment for a business to make about asset purchasing.

Just bought an 11 plate R500 as a flag ship to put on my best customer’s work. Giving it to a bloke whos been with me for 5 years and the dog’s ■■■■■■■■ of a driver.

Not really a company I know has been a Scania buyer for years this is due to the service the dealer gives I suspect this is what bull mean by been loyal to the brand

And the next thread will be titled ‘wots the best polish to use on a scratched chrome badge’?

Actrosman:

That only applies to Scania v8 drivers though or if they have a super badge on the front

It was mentioned in all my firms media when we had our new Volvo’s delivered. Maybe it’s because our British Superbike team is sponsored by Volvo Truck & Bus Wales & West and they give us a new unit each year to drag the bike trailer. Now I have done my bit of plugging as well :stuck_out_tongue:

I drove what the regular driver dubbed the “company flagship.” It came with poncey overpriced air fresheners, an all ride steering wheel cover and strangely enough a Jack Daniels mirror on the wall. He was rather animated the following day when I got to work, almost crying that I’d binned the air freshener, left the mirror in the yard (I’m not having that hitting me in a rollover), and that I never put the steering wheel cover back on. Oh and left footprints on the dashboard despite there being a note saying “no feet on dash.” I only did it because of the note. :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Fascinating how some people seem baffled by Brand loyalty. It works like this- you buy a truck, a Volvo and it proves reliable and the back up is brilliant so you buy another, then another after that works out well and so on and so forth. Its not a hard concept to grasp, the dealer provides top class service and top class vehicles so why go elsewhere?how

How many of you lads questioning the brand loyalty thing are in the market for new trucks?

Franglais:
Yeah, suckered, I watched that video too, so I guess Luke will get another 0.0001pence in commission. Dont spend all your royalties at once! I dont get the comments about Bull being “loyal to the brand” and “loyal to the dealer”. Does this mean if Volvo came out with a crap truck theyd still buy it out of "loyalty"? (note: I think Volvos are pretty good from my experience of em). If its a good truck, and a good deal from the dealer, then good enough...When do we get the video about why Bull bought a 750? Or is it that they bought this 750, specced up by the seller out of loyalty? No, I dont get it. Looks a nice truck, but I dont get the message Im afraid.

I’ll let him know some random chap from Trucknet needs to know asap why he bought it. As for brand loyalty, you clearly don’t seem to understand how that works. Ditto for YouTube, it’s not on my channel so doesn’t add anything to my stats or earnings. Better luck next time

Your lack of respect for other people’s stuff just because it’s not your thing really paints you in a horrible light. Gloating about upsetting people just because you can says more about you than that stuff in that lorry says about its driver.

QUOTE “My boss Mr Bull talks about why he decided to order an FH16 in a upcoming video made by Volvo. Hopefully it’ll be out soon”
So, thats why this random chap is wondering whats going on.
Maybe my use, or lack of use of icons is to blame, but the comment about your web earnings was meant to be humerous. Apologies if I`ve offended you.

Well he told you, brand loyalty. Its not really his fault if you can’t understand this simple concept

I know you don’t shy away from good discussion so…

I am suprised you are suprised. I was baffled a company uses this phrase when discussing extremely expensive business assets. Say I buy a Volvo car and it was a good car, the next was and so forth. I keep buying the Volvo (i dont, im not 95 or a dentist).

If the next was a right howler, I would not buy it. I wouldn’t therefore be at all loyal. I would be buying the product because it suited my requirements and the minute it didnt, I would turn elsewhere. It’s expensive and I don’t have money to burn for misplaced loyalty.

Unlike say a loyal marriage, where someone supports the other through the good times and bad. I wouldn’t buy a lemon of a car to support the manufacturer through the bad times. If I consistently brought a car from a manufacturer because they turned a good product I would state that, but I wouldn’t use the word loyalty.

As to the bit at the end, I don’t see whether people buy lorries or not affects their opinion?

You’re just quibbling over the use of the word loyalty. You may have a loyal marriage but does that mean to you then that you would remain married to them no matter what they did? Loyalty is earned and can easily be lost. Using the phrase brand loyalty in this case is perfectly correct and lots of companies exercise brand loyalty.

Hands Up ! Youre right. No, I dont get it. I couldnt give a monkeys what the badge says. Ive had some good very good trucks. Including DAFs and Volvos. My latest DAF is a nail. I am not gonna say its great because of the (good) previous ones. It is what it is. It is not a fashion statement, but a tool. Therefore it should be quantitatively assessed as such. MPG, usability, earnings, reliability residual-values count.
“Brand Image”? I dunno. Other drivers and operators may be impressed, Im sure many are, but are the accountants who hire in hauliers impressed by brand? Do they offer premium for a contractor with the right brand of truck? Id think they`d be impressed with a good livery and clean tackle, but brand? I hold my hands up again! Dunno.

I’ve tried to explain it to you and failed so I’ll leave it there but just to say one thing- you seem to be under the impression he plucked a brand from thin air and nailed his colours decisively to the Volvo brand. You don’t seem to understand that loyalty is earned. Have a nice evening

Good evening, sir.
