Why do they want to take the keys all the time?
So you don’t get the hump and drive off in the middle of you being tipped.

Don’t even start me on Lutterworth. 3 bays for side tip, but only one door open and 1 forkie. 3.5 hours to tip 6 pallets. And space to park about 6 motors when 25 are queuing.
it never ceases to amuse me seeing all the trucks queuing up to side tip at the IDC/ADC.
I just pull over and park in the trailer park and walk over to the GI office & get put on a bay, Im usually tipped in a fraction of the time it take to side tip there. They also don
t mind you sitting in your cab either

Bays were all full of Asda trailers. I’m so envious of you.

Make sure you put your hazards on as soon as you enter. If you don’t the depot will explode.
Defo’
& don’t do more than 8.25mph or your name will be Emblazoned in Lights at the Blackpool Illuminations, banned from ever working again & sent to H & S Jail for no less than 10 years.
I have spent many miserable hours at RDCs, imagine my delight when I was able to re visit some of them in later years as a heavy haulage driver, the highlight for me was a visit to tesco RDC , Dartford. Arrived at 1am with a 4.8 Meter wide canopy section which was obviously routed. The security man was apoplectic, "you can’t bring that in here, you can’t bring passengers in here (second man) you can’t bring that dog in here (Stafford who always traveled with me) you can’t stay overnight here, followed by, you can’t go THAT way round the one way system. Needless to say, we spent the night parked in a corner near the garage and with the added benefit of tescos night security to look after us we all slept soundly in our beds.
Get an old vehicle key, on a keyring with your motors reg on it. Hand this key into them. So you can still have ignition on for radio.
Have been doing that far a while at a certain RDC in Scotland, (hand my car key in) was handed it back after been tipped recently and the girl gave us a smile and said, “I didn’t know Vauxhall made trucks” Still getting away with it.
After I was given keys back to move mine after Mr Hitler whined they never asked for them back, I just handed back in and she said ok thanks didn’t notice missing. Or something like that as it was Czechiepoliaskaban language !
Next time might as well keep them as they ask you to move off bay anyway and keep keys once tipped and you sit for eternity waiting for POD.
Easy enough places to waste a day but I’d much rather be off put working and driving personally
