first night out

eagerbeaver:
I have nighted out in Melton Mowbray fella. There is a cracking little industrial estate just near KFC!

Make sure you have a bottle handy for when you wake up at 2am needing a ■■■■! I tend to use one with a wide neck.

(Not suggesting you don’t!!!). Late edit; There is a Co-op there too, KFC and Co-op are quite literally a 2 min walk away from the ind est.

Ive woke up bursting on a ■■■■ a couple of times, litteratly not enough time to get clothes on its either been window right down or door swung open and ■■■■■■ from the cab, dirty ■■■■■■■ I know haha… could be worse (arse out window)

Same here, the road is snow hill, although from memory when you get to the top road bears left and its no overnight hgv parking there.

Correct. There’s signs up saying no overnight parking. Not sure if the Co-Op is still open, I know it’s due to close as they built a Lidl next door that took all their trade. Best option if coming from the North West would probably be to park on the Kegworth to Melton road A6006 There’s a set back lay by just past the A46 turn.

ended up in a layby on the 607. had a little cafe on it which i didnt notice when i pulled up cos of a truck in front. was called paulas cafe. cracking food and the bloke was reyt nice too.

First night out eh?
Well my first night out was in a layby on the A1 North near Doncaster.
It went without incident - which is something to be said considering its a dodgy stretch of road.
You always remember yer first night out [emoji846].
9 years on I reckon I’ve done a thousand [emoji1304]

Just remember mate you don’t have to run your time right out to then find a place to stop. I always used to make this mistake in the early days.

Plan it in advance where to aim for even if you have plenty of shift and drive time left on arrival at your end destination.

yeah i know but i wanted a longer lie in so i wanted to be closer to the collection point in melton. i knew of a few laybys in the area so i wasnt panicky. i pulled up with about 15 mins left.

cheers for the tip though  ill bear it in mind
