Firms you spot for no particular reason

No firms in particular but i like spotting low-loaders so i can have a giggle at there restraining techniques
i rarely get any pics and have usually forgotten about them before i get home but your post has remined me of something i saw on thursday.
It was an FM with a stepdeck going down the m40 past banbury, on the front he had 7 or 8 ton roller chained forward against the two foot high headboard, behind it was large ride-on dumper about 7 feet wide which was held on with a single strap across the part where it articulates but the cream on the cake was the 12 ton komatsu 360 digger on the back that was straped to the ramps with a single strap.

Was having a pretty torid time on my first solo trip abroad… until I saw a Mortimers “eat more chips”. Boy was I glad to see that.
Now I look out for Harrisons - and their exquisite fridges. Stevens and their fridges. Prestons are always keen on the eye, and I always admire clean, tidy, well cared for trucks whoever the operator ( unless their pink|)

There use to be (maybe still going) a company from Liverpool with black & white trucks/trailers, can’t remember their name, Scania’s iirc, always immaculate, no matter the weather, really stood out whenever they passed.

That’ll be thornburns sadly no longer around

Yep, they’re the one’s.

What a paint job. The tri-ax 143s looked the best

Yeh they always stood out on the road, a simple, but good paint job always looks more classy than some of the more ott bad taste liveries I reckon.

I also do find that Samworth Brothers and Conway Bailey catch my eyes somewhat too. Especially when 2 are parked together in a layby on the A34 a few weeks ago

H.E. Payne Wyboston Bedfordshire - i seem them everywhere i go!!

I always notice Pollocks wagons…because I’m a child and it reminds me of another word

A lot of the Scots must have spent a fortune on getting tartan trim painted on before the advent of decals/stickers/wraps etc. Pollocks always raised a titter from me too.

Tartan paint comes in a tin ready to be sprayed on.

Back n the day Peter Roff his lorry’s always looked great.
Now punchards mainly of 8 wheel rigid flats with cranes always catch my eye. Always well tured out.

Heiploeg…

Dutch firm I think. Had a picture of a great big prawn on the trailer.

They used to do Morocco all the time was my understanding. Whenever I was in Spain or France, I used to see them a great deal.

Did they not get banned for being a nine bob note?

There was a big thread on here. Seems Traffic commissioner related things had something towards the end. Can’t say how much as I don’t know the facts. Seem to remember the owners daughter posting on here? Maybe I got that wrong.

FJ Need are a bit unusual (bright green) always really nicely turned out, Samworth bros, Longs of Leeds, Bedworth haulage and Conway bailey too.

Prestons of Potto.

RTS.

I know this is taking the mick but here’s a rare one, only comes out in the summer when the sun is out. But might be seen at the NEC Saturday morning if your early lol

I like FJ Need they catch my eye, always look mint even in the bad weather! Samworth brothers fleet is smart as well.

Randall Barber have a nice fleet, the grilles make it for me!

Always seem to notice Metcalfe Farms too, but that might just be because of the loads!
