Fireworks - lack of sleep - cancelling work

This post really does showcase everything wrong not just in transport but in the economy in general, the useless bottom-feeding parasites and hangers-on who we all have to pay for through our taxes.

ROG:
Has anyone on here had to cancel work the next day due to fireworks causing them to have too little sleep making them unsafe to drive ?

I know I have a few times over the past 25 years

The attitude that put the Great in Britain?

When I first read this I thought Rog was joking, obviously wasn’t so… ^ ^ that ^ ^

Rog was trying to make the point that driving tired can be unsafe…don’t you all nob-heads taking the ■■■■ see that??

…maybe the guy killed on the A14 today didn’t either. :unamused: remember - drive tired and next time it could be you!!!

Everyone else on here understands that driving while tired is dangerous, that is why people take breaks from driving, they go to sleep. The point is that if a small disturbance that lasts 2 or 3 hours makes you unfit for work, then a change of career is required.

Children cry, alarms go off, neoghbours row, play loud music, sirens on police cars, wind rattling the trees, bog door or windows rattling, parked on a main road in a layby, sleeping on a ferry, in a factory, on a train.

Get some ear plugs, change your job or man up

…and then some ■■■■ pulls up next to you with a running fridge :stuck_out_tongue:

Nobody is suggesting driving tired is smart :unamused: :unamused:

Copping a day off due to totally predictable and preventable circumstances is just taking the ■■■■, simples :unamused: :unamused:
Part of being a professional driver is not only being smart enough to not drive tired but to recognise and deal with circumstances to minimise the risks of this occurring :unamused: :unamused:
We’ve all had unexpected occurances which no one could reasonably plan for. Bad ferry crossing, alarms going off, thieves, personal problems etc etc but fireworks are predictable. Therefore any decent driver, who isn’t a glassback malingering social parasite, would recognise that fact and take appropriate action. If it happens every year then be responsible and professional and book the ■■■■ time off in advance :imp: :imp: :imp:

I’m all for safety but too many lazy [zb]ers are now spoiling any positive benefits by hiding behind it’s blanket to excuse their own lack of morals, responsibility and their general bone idleness. :unamused:

So if you have a day off because you are tired you are a malingering parasite? As you say, things happen. I once had a day off because I felt buggered after a hard week the week before and the gaffer said I’d sooner you didn’t crash my truck thanks…and was fine about it. Only day off i’ve had when I’ve been LGV driving too…

To me, it is like booking time off for their kids birthday or the dogs birthday, you adjust it to suit, the kid doesn’t know whether it was born on a Wednesday or a Sunday.

Not what I said at all champ, learn to read and don’t summise my comments inaccurately to suit your point and try to devalue my opinions . If I’m knackered, I can take all the time off I want. Our loads are high value and fragile. I would not expect the company to deal with my failure to deal with a predictable event.

I have on occasion had little sleep for several reasons, all unpredictable and unavoidable. Fireworks are neither of these things. I have if on a night out simply informed the office whose attitude regardless of how critical the load is has been one of. “You’re the man at the wheel, don’t take any chances, do what you feel safe to do”. I won’t work any other way.
