Has anyone on here had to cancel work the next day due to fireworks causing them to have too little sleep making them unsafe to drive ?
I know I have a few times over the past 25 years

get yerself a pair of earplugs
weewulliewinkie:
grow yerself a pair of balls
Fixed that for you
If you play white noise you will not hear the fireworks. You can find free white noise apps available for download on smartphones.
White noise & earplugs - tried both in the past and they had no effect on nearby explosions
As with many things its probably down to the individual - I could never sleep where other drivers were closing the doors to their trucks !!
Yawn,

No, I am an adult, not a 3 year old child.
bit of a feeble excuse if you ask me and thats what my boss would say and then laugh.
I gather from the answers that either nobody has an issue or has but drives tired ?
i dont think rog has ever done enough work to be tired in the first place

between 80 and 100 hours a week, for most weeks in a year not enough ?

I imagine most people on this board have lost sleep for one reason or another and still managed to get through the following day without skiving off work or having an accident.

Perhaps its just me that considers the risk factor …

The job centre in leicester will testify this.
I’ve gotta confess I had a day off recently due to a neighbours burglar alarm going off every 20 mins one night, when the landlord (council) finally got in touch with the tenants (not moved in yet) they were both too poorly to come up (from her mothers) and sort it, the council had to threaten to break in and charge them before they came and reset it. Turns out they’d left the cats in the kitchen! Great way to impress your new neighbours.
On the safety issue, there was absolutely no way I could have worked that day, my truck would’ve been the proverbial juggernaut/unguided 44 tonne missile.

Try living 5 miles from Raf Brize Norton, right on the flightpath. A VC10 taking off over your head in the early hours.
Or better still, a Hercules left idling for ages without taking off.
Surely sleeping in a lorry cab beside a busy road is worse than a few fireworks?

Understandable to a degree as it was unexpected and left you little chance to prepare.
Fireworks go off on predictable days of the year and as such any sane, non work shy type would be prepared and perhaps consider background noise or earplugs etc
Rog, you should know by now that you aren’t a proper driver if you don’t bling up yer Scania with 100 spotlights, work for 6 quid odd an hour 80 hours a week and only sleep from midnight to 4am every day!
The use of common sense when you are or aren’t fit to drive is not considered ‘manly’. If you don’t feel up to it don’t drive…if you do you aren’t a ‘tough trucker’. You’re a thick ■■■■■
