Very true
ok, off to work now, not shaved or washed for 3 days, greasy hi-viz and muddy boots on, along with bobble hat
B/H rate so onto bunk for at least an hour(with boots on of course) after rummaging around cab.

Most donāt give a toss about the truck they drive so why should they bother ? I have seen good agency drivers who hope one day to get a job with the company they are sent to and bad who just donāt care.Yet another reason agencies should just be closed and if everyone refused to work for such places they would soon vanish.
Iāve seen company drivers with many years service whoād fit into either category. And a good few of them who donāt give a toss about their truck either.
Good idea youāve got there; letās shut all the agencies down and everyone will have a proper job.Why didnāt we think of that before?
Oh, and a note to the Mods; why is it not acceptable for members of this forum to use perjorative language to describe persons whose traits include stealing diesel and anything else they can lay their hands on, but apparently itās OK to use adjectives like āfilthyā and āstinkingā as a sweeping generalisation for all agency drivers?
Double standards here, bloody poor form.

I believe I wrote a piece regarding use of the term for an English Civil War long-speared fighting unit combined with the spanish for āandā being censored off the forum, because of a single complaint.
I could take offence to being āgeneralisedā as a agency driver with the colourful metaphors on this thread.
I am not racist, against any religion, or any nationality. Iām only ācriminalistā in that I hate criminals wherever I come across them. The colourful metaphor used to describe the said criminal might imply I have something against some race/religion or whatever, but these stereotypes I believe are a part of common speech these days, so should continue to be allowed.
Even on the subject of Criminals, we all use expressions on here like ārunning bentā which implies a level of homophobia, rather than merely fiddling oneās paperwork/tacho eh?
Whilst weāre on the subject of stereotypes, donāt we also describe rip-off firms as ācheating arabsā, and Iāve even described bankers myself as āzionist conspiratorsā. Then thereās the āvampiresā that stand behind you at cashpoints, the leicester community with their nationwide chains of corner shops, and the huge bald nightclub bouncer whoās name ends in āskiā something or other.
The correct response to the so-called āHuman Rights Charterā has to be standing up in parliament, and ritually tearing it up on camera. When Strasbourg and Brussles start bleating about it, we use that opportunity to leave the EU altogether.
In short order, I would then imagine a rather large number of āforeigner come latelyā (no one specifically targeted! )
will seriously think about going back home abroad, once they realise that a new government will be stopping benefits for those who were not born here, charging onto emergency tax those who take our jobs, and rather quickly find the old bill outside their currently subsidised housing (also to later cease) when any local complains that someone of the mobile community has nicked their diesel as usual.
Baa Baa ethnic minority sheep,
have you any man-made fibre?
Affirmative, Affirmative, person currently in authority,
Less than 4 and more than 2 standardised containers of the required EU quota.
I guess you could say Iām prejudiced against āpolitical correctnessā as well!
Oh, and just for the record, I might start crossing the vehicle checklist boxes that go āNo Smoking sign present?ā "Any evidence that previous driver has violated this LAW?) not to mention empty plastic coffee cups all over the place, and last week I even got chewing gum all over my fingers whilst feeling around under the seat to adjust it as I got in the cab for the first time on a new assignment.
Then thereās the other times Iāve found myself being allocated a tramperās vehicle⦠You open any hatch and find anything from dirty laundry, a couple of (spare?) high-viz vests that have been used to re-grease the 5th wheel by the looks of it, to heavily-used bic razors with clumps of hair and blood still in it ffs! Dog hairs on the bunk, crap of an unknown animal (didnāt think it was human or dog at least!) on the PILLOW, and some kind of slop in the passenger footwell, which might be where all that dreg coffee ended up. (I donāt drink tea or coffee on duty).
Always with the full-timers having used the vehicle before meā¦
Im on agency right now and when I go into work, I get into the unit, have a look around to see whether its clean or not, if not, I go back to the office and tell them. When they tell me its ok I then then wipe around the steering wheel gear knob etc with cleaning wipes, and I mean a LOT of cleaning wipes and maybe after that Im happyish to drive. When I stop, I will wash my hands or at least use alchohol gel to clean them before I eat.
Sorry if I donāt leave the smell of crap you like around your cab but sometimes youāve just got to put up with us agency.
mike68:
Where do they come from? Filthy high viz coat beard and bobble hat.Boots on the bunk and a talent for damage, smoking in the cab and strangers to soap and water.
Please go and get a job somewhere else.
Prick. And obviously one with a short memory.
Ken.
After 6 years on the agency, I am sick to death of filthy stinking staff drivers, who think that it is ok to smoke in vehicles, not have defects rectified, leave the steering wheel covered in crap, have an inch of ā ā ā ā on the dashboard, and then go on to blame others for their misdemeanours.
Itās about time their employers sacked them, and put them on the dole if they canāt be arsed to do anything that is within the remit of their job.

Sums up many vehicles I have driven.

I bag up the rubbish in the cab at the start of a shift, then when I am finished I empty the bag in the cab
Leave it as you found it, thatās my motto
Of course it was always immaculate until they had a week off
Drove a brand new unit 2 weeks ago, an agency driver picked it up then an agency driver had it on nights and then I took it over in the morning with dirty boot prints on the bed, unbelievable.

Something else that I dislike is the regular drivers who clear out SOME of their kit and leave the rest of it rolling around in a locked overhead locker.
Wednesday, took over a truck, was going to be tramping in it at least till Friday, but possibly till Monday.
Cleaned the floor before I put my gear in, changed the blown headlight bulb, fueled the truck as it was left just over 1/4 - 1st delivery J26 of the M25 from Manchester.
Then, at delivery, in queue, thought Iāll put my gear away⦠All 3 front lockers were locked, under the bunk was a bag with a sleeping bag and pillow in it, a bag with some very dirty ratchet strapes, and a bag of PPE, leaving me the passenger side footwell for my gear.
It stunk of smoke, the steering wheel was minging.
Bloody staff drivers

Blimey thats a lot of people whom you are going to hate as there are now over 8 million people in UK with a criminal record. Not defending criminals but some really donāt deserve to be criminalised!!!1
Back on subject there are good and bad in both agencies and companies!
One of the things I hate about some āregularā drivers is when they leave their stinking bedding on the bunk when they have a week off. Iāve recently had one cab where I had to drive around all day with the windows open as it stunk of feet etc so much.
Many of the āregularā cabs I have the misfortune to find myself in, are a hell of a lot cleaner when i get out than when i got in. Dirty set of barstewards.
Many regular company drivers wouldnāt last 5 mins in the tough world of an agency driver.
I predict 10 pages by the weekend.

not to mention all the damage that has already been done to the truck aswell, iāve had 1 truck 6 months old bumper and both underrun bars mangled switchās broke or hanging out of the dash. went straight back into the transport office and got the tm to come and look at it before i took it out purely to cover myself and make sure all this damage wasnt blamed on me. then to top it off as i drove it out of the yard the overhead locker fell off onto my head .
was back in there the nxt week and the driver of this vehicle came upto me and started having ago at me for all the damage āi had causedā to his new truck.
