Was parked at Magor last night when a bulk tipper and a BMW pulled in and started going at it, rolling around on the floor. Didn’t last long and the BMW scarpered.
Was just putting my trainers on to go and help but it was all over by then.
Bit of entertainment though
tell the truth.you were putting your trainers on so you could go and video it…
Tell the truth…
You got duffed up last night by a BMW driver.

Help who though?
Between a bulk tipper driver and a BMW driver it’s hard to know who deserves the bigger kicking

Good to see things getting sorted out, Dukes up Mano to mano…
Beats filming someone on phone & grassing them up to their boss. Or even worse ■■■■■■■■ about it online. [emoji849]

I agree with the grassing and filming thing, but getting to blows over a minor traffic misdemeanor?..seriously?..ffs
20 odd years ago I would have been among it (and have been tbh ) but the fact I’ve grown up, so that and the knowing that we are looked upon as ignorant Neanderthals rather than professionals as it is, would make me think twice these days…unless it was a defending myself situation that is.

As someone who’s had more than my fair share of 2nd prizes, I totally agree that this is an absolute last resort.
My point being more to do with people’s attitudes these days. Going round acting like complete bell ends without considering what consequences may come of their actions.
So I say with tongue firmly in cheek , it ‘refreshing’ to hear of things getting sorted old school.
Away to get my tin helmet…

I take your point mate, but times change, these days you could more than likely find yourself facing the wrong end of a knife…, and just because some prick pulled out in front of you or something.
I don’t think I would take a door job nowadays, put it that way.
There is stuff on the road that winds me up big style, trust me, but I just try and control it nowadays.
- No need to video it there were already phones peeking out from the twitching curtains.
- Your average Nissan leaf driver could probably duff me up these days
- It’s a close call but the BMW will always be more deserving I reckon.
From the situation I would say the beemer was definitely the aggressor. He was in the truck park and stopped in front of the bulker blocking his way.
It looked like bulker was trying to take the keys out of the beemers ignition then they started wrestling for a while.
Bulker was a big lad and beemer saw his arse I reckon.
Bit of a non event tbh but still enough to get the sack for at some places, hope the ■■■■■■■■■ filming don’t publish it
Agree that it’s dangerous and stupid to get involved in anything these days but it’s still my instinct to go and help a fellow driver even if they turn out to not deserve it.
Must quosh that instict…
50/50 two idiots on the same bit of road, then again the area is no stranger to street pugilism.

Easy. Just go and spark them both out for not being able to rise above whatever it was and behave like adults driving lumps of metal about.
And truck drivers cry their eyes out because they only get a tenner per hour…
I cringe when people ask me what I do for a living.

I can understand that. I felt exactly the same in some of my latter years. Unfortunately we are usually all tarred with the same brush.
Quite sad because I remember being so proud of what I did in the early years when we were “knights of the road”
OK maybe that’s a bit OTT but it seemes we had a lot more respect then.
I also remember the Knights of the road era. When I first started cycling more than fifty years ago the old brigade gave this advice, If you get stuck somewhere get yourself to a transport café because the lorry lads will most likely help you out.

I’ve never been embarrassed to admit what I do, it’s a worthy occupation imo, the fact that the d/heads among us cause embarrassment is just something you have to endure.
I remember meeting and getting on with another couple on holiday once, when we got talking and I told them what I did, the guy said ’ Really?, you seem too intelligent to be a trucker’’ or words to that effect
…I could not make my mind up if I was being complimented or insulted, I went right off him after that comment.
As for the past ‘Knights of the road’ thing,…that lies somewhere between pure myth and pure ■■■■■■■■ I reckon.
Just don’t understand what’s going on in the heads of anyone that they want to take time out of their day to deviate and pursue someone cutting them up or something.

Just tell them that your name is Stobart and you drive 3000 trucks, that shuts them up!

I once was met with hugely surprised expressions when I said what I did. They then said but you don’t look like a truck driver. I said what’s one supposed to look like? They said well you know, fat scruffy and generally out of shape
