Hi, I’m about to board DFDS for Dunkirk,
My problem is I will be out of hours when I dock at Dunkirk,
Does anyone know how long I get to find a place to park driving out ferry/train mode
Think it’s half hour…

60mins for both the shunt on and off@ Dunkirk and find place to park up.
The 60mins can be a combination of driving/other work.

you need to be parked up on/ at less than a thirteen hour shift hence interrupting a REGULAR rest period to do it too! As big truck says 1, embark 2, disembark and 3, you’ve an hour including 1 and 2 to make 3!
But only would apply if you haven’t done more than 13hrs duty time , as you will need 11hrs daily rest
Can’t use a ferry movement if you haven’t had a bunk or couchette on the ferry.
You on a bit of a sticky wicket using it on the Dunkirk ferry tbh
You can interrupt a regular daily rest period twice.
The 2 interruptions must not be more than 1 hour in total.
The daily rest period of 11 hours must be completed within the period of 24 hours from the start of the shift (unless you’re multi-manning).
Legally you can only have a daily rest period on a ferry or train if you have access to a bunk or couchette.
If VOSA pull you about using Derry mode on the boat that hasn’t access to the bunk egg stand your ground and tell them we’ll go to court.
Some of the NI boys have did just that ref the P&O Cairnryan and they’ve heard nothing more.
VOSA would have some balls to take it to court in the grounds of “you picked the wrong Ferry company that doesn’t have cabins”!!!
IE Stena V’s P&O on the Cairnryan crossing! !!!

But they may not have access. To a couchette or bunk the best thing to have would be a split rest on the cairneyan ferry

You can’t have split rest on the P&O ferry as it usually only takes 2hrs!!!
The Stena is usually over 3hrs and you do have “access” to a cabin (therefore a bed) so why take a split when you can just use the ferry mode??!!!

if you were feeling like a good debate, you could always just say that you had access to a couch/bunk by hiding inyour own bed on the car deck and didnt go upstairs,(as you do)…highly illegal of course, but who would actually do you??
The p&o I usually get always takes least 7 hrs to do Dublin

“Would you do me if limit was 50mph like England/Wales or A9 officer”■■?!!
“Never in a million yrs officer would you catch PSNI doing a trucker for 57mph on a wide/fast A road”!!!
“Have you no shame”!!![SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND TIGHTLY-CLOSED EYES]

ive always wanted to have the bottle to go to court to contest another A75 speeding charge with the excuse…im afraid i cannot contest what the officers are giving as evidence.i have no recollection of the allegded offence as i had recently consumed 18 cans of lager,a half bottle of vodka and was coked out of my ■■■■,so i will have to assume the officers are correct in their charge.i dont think you could get done for drunk driving as they wouldnt have a reading, but surely it would make an interesting debate in court and not look great for the big car vermin…possibly it might be best to try this on the last week before i decide to retire from driving just in case…
anyone have any idea of what you could get done for apart from the original speeding?,oviously it goes without saying that when charged with the offence and you are asked your reply, your reply has to be the following…please dont hit me again officer…those of a darker persuasion would have to reply…please stop hitting me …

Think you’d incriminate yourself and be taken to a different court by the rozzers or whoever handles prosecutions.
