Female truck drivers

There are lots of female bus drivers nowadays but I have never yet come across a female HGV driver. Do they exist and if so when did they start appearing on the roads.
Do they prefer local work or tramping?
Are there any female owner-drivers?

I am intrigued to learn more. Let us know what you have found.

See the odd one here and there. We’ve got one at our depot, she has a really bad reputation for not reporting damage. Nice enough girl but she does get all the cream jobs, the office does treat her differently. Don’t really bother me that much though.

There is a women that works for SNT and she is stunning, I’d love to double man with her alright

I have found that telling a drunk woman to calm down has the same effect as baptising a cat!

With regards to lady drivers there are plenty out there if you pay attention. I’ve also found that they tend to keep themselves to themselves and avoid the male of the species because of said males tendency to pull their beer bellies in and generally behave like a pubescent teenager full of raging hormones around them!

Once the Neanderthal has been rebuked his usual comeback is “bloody lesbians”, as if no “normal” woman could resist his obvious charms!

I know who you mean. Huba huba. [emoji7] [emoji7] She’s got a nameplate on the windscreen. Think her name is Rhona.

More to the point, if some women are truck drivers, whos doing the washing up?

See a lot of female bus drivers and in general they tend to be better than most of the blokes. Never really known any female lorry drivers but got to say I used to say woman were generally better than men when it comes to car driving but that has all changed in the last ten or so years. Now the woman are just as bad if not worse. Especially the younger generation. Not a clue. :unamused:

Both are as bad as each other. Case in point, driving around Birmingham today I saw no end of people with a phone clamped to their ear as they were driving.

There was a maritime clad female driver in the drivers room in tesco at reading today. She had big hair

I’d love to double man with her

What, three in a bed? :open_mouth:

There are quite a few here on trucknet.

I’ve known one all my life who’s been on the artics well over 40 years, tilts and continental for decades, wide loads, you name it, highly respected by those who have worked with her over the years.

I work with two currently, both very good at the job, no hassle no winging and moaning unceasingly unlike some (too many) of the blokes.

Maosters…''I have found that telling a drunk woman to calm down has the same effect as baptising a cat! ‘’…brilliant mate…

Over the last 25 odd years, I have met more ■■■■■ male drivers, than ■■■■■ female drivers.

Some spectacularly bad girls on the buses… (first group). Some really unassuming good ones on trucks.

I think I may have had the pleasure of being stuck in Sainsburys East Kilbride with her for a few hours one day before Christmas.

And not just pleasing on the eye, bought us all drinks, dragged us all off to show us where to go for a ■■■, then even crashed the ash when we got there.

I worked with a couple of female tipper drivers years ago and they were fine at their job. One married a local haulage contractor and does the CPC work I believe, of course in rural farming communities a lot of the girls drove tractors from a young age anyway so driving a truck wasn’t a big step up really.

Pete.

I’ve known a few women drivers over the time both here and abroad, also worked for a couple of women who owned transport companies with no complaints, as for when did women come on the scene as drivers I would say about the mid 70’s when the motors started to have things like power steering as standard and comfortable cabs especially sleeper cabs, you never saw a woman driver in transport digs before sleepers ( and who could blame them), I think that that was the start of it.

more than a few female drivers out here ,funny enough most I know are on flat deck work, one on super b flat deck ,was warned when I first started driving overhere at my first company about one o the female flatdeckers at the company ,she would drink ya under the table and beat you at armWrestling(for money) a wee thing she was as well.,another one was pace setter driver at a tipper firm you would think butter wouldnt melt in her mouth ,bloody hell she moved an if she thought you were slacking she let them know(I saw grown big burly men drop their coffee and run back to their motors) if they knew she was inbound into the quarry.

Hi , I’m a female hgv driver, & there’s a few more female drivers that use this forum too  There are a few female hgv drivers in the Midlands, the odd ones else where, although still a minority.

I drive mostly articulated & do wagon & drag as well. All different types of work , ADR,
General haulage, straw , steel , double decker, flat, all sorts . I drive England, Scotland and Wales, distance no problem, but only uk.

I used too see quite a few, mostly doing day shifts, there’s one I used to see who worked for Wincanton Daventry on agency

we have a female tramper at our depot and one or two agency females as well from time to time.

Was a chap who dressed in knickers and suspenders does that count, before you ask, it was on the telly. He had ■■■■ legs any way.
