Nothing against female drivers but i wish they would just get on with it rather than trying to impress i was at Asda lutterworth once and some poor girl must have taken about 10 minutes dumping a trailer off, making sure it was all perfectly straight with the one nexy to it, making sure the legs were all wound down to the correct amount surprised she didn’t get a tape measure out
Nothing wrong with that. Better than tare arseing about dropping trailers here there and everywhere. Woman just take pride in what they do.
Bloodoodle is correct we are truck drivers no gender and just like you guys some of us are easier on the eyes than others i dont mind seeing a good looking guy and appreciate the view when I can but on the other hand some of the guys i have seen need to pull up their pants when they bend down

If the ladies can pass the test , wheres the problem. providing they are doing it to keep a family and not just to prove a point, But this also applys to males who only drive trucks for the glory, and there are quite a lot who do…
Oh right that’s an interesting post. So since I do this job because I love it, I don’t even have a house let alone family, I shouldnt be doing it. Apologies chaps I’ve taken a family mans job.

Spot on there gal
Reminds of the time, when I was waiting @ a goods in desk, plenty of the “slob” variety on parade, when one of the worst specimens, holds up “The Sun” page three, and states ; “why can`t my Mrs look like this”, to which the lady behind the desk pipes up with ; “because you look like that”…PRICELESS
Yep it has been discussed before a few times & there are quite a few female drivers on here as we established then & a few more have joined since
But I dont expect any special treatment when I am out driving I am just doing my job simple as that same as any male
There was a young female couple years back who passed her test came on here trying to promote lorry driving & get more “girlies” into the industry ( for those like me who have been on here long enough to remember ) but didnt
work

We need a recruitment drive in 2011 for more female drivers.
We don’t need a recruitment drive for more drivers in 2011, there are already far too many drivers for the jobs available.
Of all the drivers I have met, the female drivers have been far easier to talk to, engage in intelligent conversation and never had a thing to prove…I like that.
I seldom engage male drivers in conversation, as I know I am going to get a load of old bull and usually posturing…I don`t have time or interest for that, I have nothing to prove.

NO THANKS,im sick and tired of having to change runs, hours around because ITS THAT TIME OF THE MONTH,jesus we all get a bit of belly ache, headache but we dont get our times, jobs changed because of it,we just pop a few pills and get on with the job,why can they .best left in the kitchen
I’m not sure whether you’re really brave or just stupid
im neither tacho,im just stating it as it is[or the birds i work with are],ive no problem with women as if you remember whilst fiona was getting a load of abuse recently on here by 99 % of the posters i stood up for her ,but they really MILK this time of the month ■■■■■■■■,its always when its a ■■■■ run, never when its a easy local, we all have days when we feel crap, dont want to do alot but we just get on with it,which is why i say if youre going to do the job ,just do it,if not stay in the kitchen.
i remember my mum going to work for years, never having a day off, never heard her mention time of thee month, she just got on with it,women are a different breed these days, too much hello,o.k problem page reading these days

‘‘Apparently’’ thats why wedding dresses are white…matches the other domestic appliances (scampers off)
in my ‘yoof’ i was a regular reader of all the trucking mags and (thinks) can remember the cover story on one was of a female in a pink 142m pulling a bulker…struggling to remember the name though, was it Kate or summat. Some of the older ones here must remember Years ago, we used to have a couple of females around this part, Inca (on for Reed Corrugated @ Colthrop) and Fran (mid 80’s Jacobs and later BOC Transhield (Gist) @ Thatcham), both class 1. Inca was obviously no tear arse, could pass her on a pushbike but Fran would have given Divina Galica a run for her money in her prime (i know, none of you know who she is!!)
I’ll always be grateful to the young lady a few years ago who saved me from making a complete arse of myself my first time out in a W&D! I could usually get a trailer on an artic to go roughly where I wanted, but I couldn’t get this thing on the bay at all, well not straight anyway. She didn’t take the ■■■■, she just said ‘you haven’t driven one of these before have you?’
Bish, bash, bosh, a couple of shunts later she had it nicely on the bay. Attractive lady as well, can’t remember who she drove for, but she saved my blushes. Thanks Hon. Never met a snotty (re:snooty) lady trucker yet, mind you I think if I had to work with that Fiona (I’ve just got stuck in the snow, inane laughter) for long murder would be committed!

Anyone remember CASCOs of Wheatley? They had 8w Renault Maxters usually on road planings and had 2.5 women driving for them; Rose used to enjoy watching machine drivers rush to open her tailgate, only to find she had an auto when they weren’t common, and Fat Nancy
We all know these driver vacancies are for crap jobs that no one wants to do which is why they are vacant but yet they bang on about the driver shortage, there isn’t a driver shortage, just a shortage of mugs for crap positions.
Back to the immediate topic, I don’t care what gender the driver is but some women have a tendancy to try and do the job too well, I know there’s the well known saying that women need to do as good a job in trucking if not better than the men to be accorded respect by their fellow employees but I honestly wouldn’t bother doing anything more than getting the job done if the roles were reversed.
Poor example & I know it’s mostly fictional but that Lisa on ice road truckers seems to want to break her back to do the job as well as or better than the men, overdoing the proving the point lark, who gives a chuff, just get the load there and don’t bother trying to show off…
