Only a half-witted vegetable would expect the company buy the things the OP mentions. Most people would take responsibility themselves.

You blokes ain’t tough enough to be lorry drivers. Open the window, no lorry years ago had all these mod cons that you have these days, plus the cabs were more cramped with the engine in the middle. Nobody moaned we just got on with the job.I bet my house they did moan…everybody moans, just in them days there was no YouTube to upload clips of people moaning
I can’t remember anyone moaning, it was part of the job, just as a lot of lorries didn’t have a heater in the cab in the late 1960’s.
common practice for me was secure any bits of paper to a big clip open both windows and then have the hatch opened at the front to force air in. but was so pleased when trucks did start getting aircon.
■■■■■■■ hell all this talk of companys should supply suitable clothing for the hot weather? Aye and I bet the Middle East lads used to expect the same from their company’s as they headed off on a 6 week run to Doha and back
They jumped in the truck with their supplies and off they went probably with no a/c but did it bother them? Did it ■■■■■■■■.
Also to them who say the company they work for won’t allow them to wear shorts. I decide if I want to wear shorts if it’s scorching not some jumped up ■■■■ who has just left school sat behind a desk with the a/c on and a desk fan blowing his Essex boy haircut all over the shop. Health and safety my arse! How about the lads on the building sites who were shorts covered in gobbo and cement and what not.
Bloody worlds gone mad

Are you for real mate, I could imagine the response if I went in to our lot and asked them to supply me a bottle of factor 25 and a set of Raybans
. Get yourself round to Boots and buy your own, and if you are that ■■■■■■ about paying, book an extra half hour on your timesheet
I also agree with Steve if I want to wear shorts I will wear shorts, they can go and ■■■■ themselves. Apart from that I like to give the ladies a bit of eye candy.

No fridge but I do have AC.I’ve got both
No one likes a show off!
I’ve got both too. And a freezer
Baby wipes soaked in water then in the freezer, bliss in this weather
just put the office aircon back on as the girls with fans waving at me were getting tired still not happy mind as they haven’t provided work shorts for me.
If I could even persuade my lot to provide sunglasses, I can imagine what they would be like. They sure as hell wouldn’t be Tom Cruise in Top Gun …cool mirrored style, no, they would be the cheapest they could buy a cross between welding goggles and Ray Charles style.
The safety boots they got us were a good example, a job lot for a fiver a pair, you looked like you were going down t’pit in the 30s, and they made ■■■■■■■ noises when you walked.
Delivery van driver had one of these in his van yesterday, it appeared to work well and he was very happy with it.

Can’t wear shorts on balfour beatty sites,
Anyone who drives for a living is right to expect aircon, imo.
It is the 21st century.
I’m a bus driver, and a bus is just a big greenhouse on wheels, yet trying to get a bus with working aircon is a nightmare.
They won’t put fridges in our motors, so I’ve got 11 litres ticking over with the Air Con on full Blast. [emoji106]
(Probably using a gallon of diesel an hour [emoji57])
How happy am I after my latest discovery? Merc MP4, set night heater to “LO”, turn fan up to 3 or 4 et voila! Cold air blown onto your exposed nads all night. I did get some funny looks as the night heater was roaring away though!

You won’t be the only one trying it Martin! it worked on my old Actros years back, it worked on my 60 plate MAN, but not the 61 plate. Go figure.
