I think the day car drivers stick to the 70 mph speed limit (indeed speed limits in general) and start to show truck drivers some respect and actually switch on when you are in your cars, then maybe we will think of you a bit more.
Although i do agree, it dunnarf get on your nerves don’t it

Some of you go on about respect, why should people respect you, Oh i forgot because if we didnt have trucks we wouldnt get our milk, eggs payslips and so on like one of you wrote. There are thousands of jobs that people deserve respect for like nurses and doctors, but you dont see any forums with them complaining how hard done by they are. There are also a lot of “car drivers” as you point out that cause you to set out two hours earlier, that get your haulage firm the contracts that keeps you in a job.
I think there are people here that know exactly where i was coming from, but with the majority i guess the truth hurts.
The origional post was not aimed at everyone like i said.
Truth is though most of you who got your backsides out over my thread are the sort of people with anger issues not me, I am very calm and loving reading your rants so keep it up

Sorry can’t agree with you there LT, when I started, and for many years after,
there was not a general conflict and when people used the term ‘Knights of
the Road’ they were not taking the mickey.
Not much point in discussing it other than to let off some steam. As
long as we all get to our destinations without crashing then thats the main
thing. Sometimes we all need to take a chill pill and relax on these
overcrowded roads

No. Instead we get it rammed down our throats in the newspapers and on the evening news. Recently we’ve had GP’s on over £100,000 per year ■■■■■■■■ cos they might have to work an hour on a weekend or evening.
BTW, I can’t recall the last time I drove for a company where it required sales reps to sell the goods I was carrying.
