Favourite Liveries

Hiya , great pics lads … keep em coming  some more i’ve thought of ; Sayers of Newbury , Alan Firmin , Prestons of Potto , Knights of old , Malcolms of Brookfield , Ken Thomas ,Mansell Davies , Benton Bros , Jack Richards , Brown of Carlisle …

Hullo,
Liveries Eh ? My trucks always looked great, When I ran my own. Traditional British Haulage Liveries as shown by many of these trucks on this thread. But today as I was doing my usual weekend work from Middlesbrough…, I was on my way down to Purfleet, I had just got onto the A1 from the A19, was just settled down, limiter on at 90kph, radio on and enjoying the early morning, when I saw in the mirror this thing approaching at a great rate of knots, there were quite a few lights on the front, there seemed to be about two metres of chain link fencing, painted silver arount the front of the unit, on the roof deflector was sign written “BOYS must have their TOYS”, or someting like that, as it passed (a nice LHD motor, I wish I was still in one) I saw on the side of the roof deflector, “Too Wild to be Tamed” written on it, and on a deflector arount the fuel Tank it said BORN to HAUL. The side deflectors were adorned with a whole lot of red lights. I looked real crap, well over the top. As this thing passed pulling a tautliner, I tried to catch any sign of his nationality, but the number plate lights and the offside rear light were not working. Probably too much bling up front. Look at the liveries on here, then consider this abortion, what has happened to our industry ■■?
Cheers, Archie.

This sort of thing you mean.

Sounds like Stephen Batey’s 95XF Super space cab. would have been silver with a black horse on it.

How about Sayers tanker fleet? Always a smart set-up. Any pics anyone?

Mark.

Has anybody got any picture of the two tone green livery of Jack Watts of Carlisle? I don’t think they still exist but they used to be continental and english, a large fleet but I don’t know how many years ago now I last saw one of their trucks. I drove for them regular but lost touch as to the business. Can anybody forward any information or pictures. I am from the old school drivers, my driving life began in the London Docks (retired now), my first year in the Docks was 1971. Thanks lads, anything you can come up with!!

Restored, covered in snow Pete and all the more realistic for all that. Bet it brings back shivering memories  Hopefully somebodies got one in their full glory…jim

Hi Stravaiger

I appreciate your picture of a Jack Watts truck & trailer in the snow, I used to see plenty of that kind of weather and I was roping and sheeting a lot so I did get into some rough conditions. I am so pleased you found the photo of the ERF it brings back a lot of memories and men I worked with. I would be interested to know where the picture came from and if it was on your travels that you came across it? I am trying to get more info about Watts.
Thanks for that picture, it means a lot.

A few of the different liveries at Hereford Truck show 2010,starting with jonmea’s Scania 113.

A few more from Hereford.

Here`s a motor from a very smart fleet and a very professional company too.I had more of these but have lost them.

I always thought that EAST WEST, from Ireland were a very well turned out fleet, they had some lovely top spec Scania’s & Merc’s

Jerry

Some more from West Wales.
