Farewell Renault Trucks

Having only recently moved into their new UK headquarters, it has been announced that Renault will be moving into the Volvo HQ at Warwick.

The question is, how much longer has the Renault brand got to run before ending up like ERF?

Interesting, they’ve also reduced their car range in the UK as well, IIRC no more Lagunas or Modus.

I can’t answer that one, but I do know first-hand that the Renault office staff are very much looking forward to getting their new company (Volvo) cars.

Strange that…I know one of the Volvo guys from Warwick and he has a Renault car !!!

They’ve just ploughed a crazy amount of euros into a new range. I reckon they’ll be around a while yet.

That is true, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did get swallowed up in the end. The admin, IT, etc etc running two companies must be huge, so merging under the one badge name must make sense in the long run. When MAN took over ERF, they said that they were going to run two brands, a few years down the line and then look what happened :open_mouth:

Renault is a zb make…:exclamation:

What a shame it wasn’t the other way around.

Renault will continue, just working even closer with Volvo than it already does, I am advised that either brand should at some time in the near future service each others vehicles and
since I have run a Magnum for 8 years with little downtime I have been surprised how reliable it has been compared to others I have owned. And we must never forget that Renault is French,
keeping 1,000s of workers in a job and Nobbie supplied with about every second vehicle that’s manufactured. Might be wrong but I think Renault will be around for a long time yet.

So what would happen to the other companies owned by the same group as Volvo Trucks, and Renault Trucks? There is a misconception that Volvo Trucks own Renault… when in fact The Volvo Group own both truck manufactures, along with several other companies.

I suppose the situation would be wholly comparable to MAN Truck and Bus AG who are the ultimate holding company and control MAN Truck and Bus UK Limited and who would have controlled ERF. In this case though, as you rightly say, Volvo Trucks and Renaults are just a subsidiary of the Volvo group.

Not as far as I am aware they aren’t, but I might be wrong.

This is a bit different to MAN/ERF. ERF didn’t sell anywhere near the numbers Renault sell and in reality just wasn’t viable especially when ■■■■■■■ didn’t offer euro 4 engines.
Maybe in time Volvo and Renault will be the same truck with a different badge but I bet they will be building trucks in France for some time yet.
As an aside isn’t Renault cars and Nissan ■■■■■■■ together.

I think that when you look into a lot of these companies, they are all in bed with one another and I note that Renault Trucks are now being built out in Saudi, so yes, I would agree they are in a completely different league to ERF.

Volvo Car Corporation are currently owned by the Chinese firm Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, the automotive division having been sold off by Volvo Group to Ford Motor Company in 1999, where they became part of the Premier Automotive Group along with Jaguar, Land-Rover and Aston Martin. Ford in turn sold them on to Geely in 2010, due to lack of profitability. Jaguar and Land Rover were sold to Tata Motors of India in 2008.

Volvo Group (AB Volvo) remains Swedish.

Try saying
