Cracking stuff PM, Im a Foden Fanatic myself , I loved the old 12 sp. I used to run over to Tilcons at Newlandside Quarry in the earley 70s Via Crawleyside, The only motor for the job, Keep the photos rolling they are great, Regards Larry.

Hello Larry,
Did you go up Crawleyside loaded towards Edmundbyres with the Foden loaded.

Regards

F Troop.

I sure did Alec, The old Fodens were the wagons for that run with the 12 speed box no problems & never had to go into the low range, It was the brakes you had to watch, Happy days, Regards Larry.

‘Muckaway’ asked a couple of times why bakers always wanted their flour carried up stairs. That was a question I used to ask when I drove for John Jordan and Sons, Flour Millers of Broom near Biggleswade. At the time, I was driving a Chinese six ERF, NMJ 13 for them and carried a lot of bags (140lbs) of flour up rickety old wooden steps at bakeries. The only good thing about carrying flour was that it was a lot easier work than loading railway sacks (280lbs) of wheat on the farms. Would this be against safety regulations today?

Barry, I know nothing about the motor other than it was registered in
1964 in my area Durham, but you already knew that. Could have been
been an ex Salkeld motor they ran only Foden Tippers.
